For me, I think He's giving me more time to mature more as a person and also in my faith before that even comes into the equation. God wants us to trust in Him for all things and draw closer to Him before anything else. A relationship built on Jesus as the foundation is a solid one.

Then go get one. X3
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

[Pink Floyd fan listening to Queen and hugging trees which is also known as taking care of God's creation with a pair of headphones on listening to Nightwish as loud as possible while writing a novel on a computer in the middle of a field filled with Wolves.]

I can't afford one either... in more ways than one. >_>

Technically, I've never had one. There was this one black girl when I was little and I've considered trying with a few girls recently, but honestly...

I'm too shy, too poor, and still kinda young to be trying anything "serious" anyways.

Here's a good question. How does one know if it's God's plan for you to get married or stay single?

The same way you know if anything is of God. Pray. Read the scriptures. Ask your trusted Christian friends/mentors. I don't mean that in a cliche way, but I believe God wants us to know, at least in part, His will for us (I'm not saying anyone can ever know the full will of God. Like Aslan, God isn't "tame").

I have no magic formula for it, but it seems to me that the God I know wouldn't place dreams of family and desires for marriage in someone destined to be single. Doesn't that seem cruel to you? And Christ wants our best.

Some people want to be single, others don't. Very few people are called by God to be single, but I think He would only do that to those who wouldn't have a problem with it. We don't know God's plan in this, but I think its all to do with just trusting Him always in everything we say and do.
I think God will give you a hint if he wants you to stay single or get married! (lol)

Well this is certainly becoming an interesting disscussion.

new question: How do you keep from confusing puppy love or just admiration with true love?

i would say that when you are willing to wait, when you are more concerned with the other's well being rather than whether or not you are with that person, that is the sacrificial nature of love

True love is possibly when you love the person and can accept them for who they are. Faults and all.
But like I said, what would I know? I've never had the experience.

well, keep in mind it is entirely possible to feel unconditional love for an other without that being someone that you want to be your future spouse, a parent (at least in most cases) loves their child unconditionally, and that love is given back by the child (at least under normal circumstances), and it can also be said for the relationship between siblings and very close friends

I work with a fellow who has Down's Syndrome, and he is honestly quite a character. He claims to have "hundreds of 'girlfriends'", ranging in age from old ladies to teenagers. In all honesty, I think he's actually talking about "friends of the female variety" though I'm not sure whether he understands the difference between the two terms. Either way, it's kind of cute. ^_^

Therefore, I could say the same thing: I have hundreds of "girl friends"! ...But I've never had a girlfriend. -_- Maybe someday, if it's in the Lord's will. :)

[Edit: By the way, what is a serious thread like this one doing in Goof Off? ^_^; ]

Hey, I don't have one either, which is totally bogus considering that I'm a Christian and I drive an El Camino. lol, jk. Nah, I'v never had a gf either. It's nothing to be ashmed of. I'm willing to wait for god's timing. Besides, I'm cool with just being friends with the girls i know. It's cool to see you guys share the same beliefs on this topic as i.

I think this answers enough good questions that it should be promoted, so moved to General.

you know, that avatar just isn't working for you. (pm me about it)

Heres another silly, hypethetical question. If you had a crush on a girl but stoped having it because she wasn't saved, but then she got saved: would it be okay to have a crush again? (remember these questions don't reflect me, I swear)

I confess... I have never had a girlfriend... But then again I'm a physics major, are girlfriends forbidden to physicists? There have always been other reasons for this (the girls in my classes have always been much older than me) and because I have no time, and there is the subtle fact that being a college student elliminates all time and money, and consequently girls in general :P.

On the flip side I do have many girls whom I consider friends :). In that manner I suppose we share a platonic love of knowlege discussing philosophy, history, mathematics, science and anything else acedemic.
