I've had my fill of catpeople.

And I can't believe none of you caught on to Mithrandir's wordplay. For shame.

More of a bad pun than a wordplay. You dredged this topic up to say that?

Then again, for you to say you've had your fill, that is interesting.

There are no bad puns. There are only:

1. Good puns.
2. Puns you wish you thought of first.

I thought the pun was like many my dad makes, and when he does that i just shake my head sadly because it was a really bad joke but i also smile because it was funny a little and i wish i would have had my wits about me enough to say it first because then it would be fun just to think about how funny wordplay is, which is one reason why Shakespeare is considered one of if not the greates playright of all time, but if i was going to talk about that, i should do so on another thread.

Now about cat people. Sometimes i think its done for the wrong reasons (like the scantily clad ones, wWHY??? do people really find that attractive???) other times (i'm a guy who has grown up with the kind of atmosphere that only girls can call things cute, so this feels weird) it is to try to make a character cute, and like someone else said earlier, CLAMP does do it a lot, like in Magic Knight Rayearth, Cardcaptor Sakura, and Tsubasa.

Why does this work? I actually heard a study was done as to why many people find animals so cute, besides just their personality. Dogs and cats both have a bigger eye:to:face ratio than humans. Human eyes never grow, but their face does, so a baby's eyes have the biggest eye:to:face ration. When we see this, because it reminds us of human babies, it sends a "cute" response to our head. That's why we really think puppies and kittens are cute because their eye:to:face ration is really extreme.

Actually that has a lot to do with anime in general. One person who helped to really boost anime's popularity years ago was a Japanese artist who watched Bambi close to a hundred times and became convinced the big eyes was what allowed the expression to be so amazing. You could make them really big for cuteness or extreme happiness, narrow them for showing subtle worry or concentration and squint them to show rage or deep sorrow. kind of cool huh?

"The Road goes ever on and on
Down from the door where it began.
Now far ahead the Road has gone,
And I must follow, if I can,
Pursing it with eager feet,
Until it joins some larger way
Where many paths and errands meet.
And whither then? I cannot say."

I think it's a result of the same creative inbreeding that decrees that giant robots are always the answer and that skinny fourteen-year-olds are innately capable of the effortless mastery of music, science, sports, combat, philosophy, gardening, and underwater basket weaving. I like catpeople, but I agree that the artists need to find some new toys.

I think the whole catpersyn thing "jumped the shark" (Google it) when Cattaro surfaced. Certainly, technological advances (Photoshop 6.0) made the catpeople look more presentable, but now the onus was upon me to create a great catpersyn backstory. And it just got tiring. And now Cattaro is married. And now--well, you get the point.

I will still keep Tomkyou's blog up, but I won't post the URL because some of the language is rather salty. I mean, enough salt to preserve a trunk full of fish.

Wow, I completely forgot about this thread.

I still have a mild disdain for catpeople (but only because it's overdone) and an outright dislike for "furries". >_>

When I saw this I thought it was about people who LIKE cats! :thumb:
In any case I think catgirls are kinda cute with their kitty ears.
As far as it goes Inuyasha is half dog demon which is why he has doggie
ears.
btw:Would Kat from Power Rangers SPD count?

What Sparrowhawk said seems about right.

Personally, I just tend to find them cute (besides the scantily-clad ones, of course >_< ).

...and an outright dislike for "furries". >_>

Um, no offense on your opinion of anything, but could you PM me on the reason, please?

Well Neko Con's mascot is a catgirl. She was done as a pirate for Neko Con 8 Nov 4-6 this year.
She has been done as a school girl, Jossie and the ***** Cats, secret agents for the different shows. Staff badges refect the different departments by the mascot in different outfits. Medical, my group, have had her in a nurse's outfit, security as secret agents or pirates with drawn swords, gophers or GO FORS has a little cat girl character with the legs just a spining like they are running.
We are waiting to see what next years theme will be so as to see what our mascot will be outfitted as.
Check the web for Neko Con to see the different ways she has been done.

XDDDD Josie and the ***** cats gets the Asterisk Treatment!!! *howls with laughter*

...and an outright dislike for "furries". >_>

Eh? Why? Besides furries that like yiff. O____O

Anyway, I love furries, I think they're great. They have wild imaginations and have some serious self-confidence. XD (I am a furry/fur, myself.)

I like the whole catgirl but prefer dogboys/wolfboys more. Like Kiba, and Inuyasha. Sorry but as a cat owner, I realize that cats (unless they're kittens) are usually not bubbly and childish, they're actually quite lazy and fickle at times...although I have the sweeeeeetest cat in the world, really, most cats are kinda, well, not very "agreeable".

And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

Yeah, those are the only ones that really have anything "wrong" with them (though there could be some other... "wierd" ones, but nothing you couldn't find in the "normal" world).

And I'm a Furry, too! XD

What about that purple one from .hack?
