Best Anime Battlescenes

Postby Heart of Sword » Thu Nov 24, 2005 9:12 am

There might have been a thread on this before but if there is one, it didn't come up in the search thing.

If your favorite scene is a spoiler, please put it in the spoiler tags. ^__^

My favorite is the last episode of Wolf's Rain when
Kiba and Darcia fight in wolf forms. When they leap at each other's throats with the red moon in the background, then fall away from each other in slow motion, snarling, and then hit the ground and race up the mountain...wow...I love that. It's awesome. *___*
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes

The showdown of Kenshin vs Saito and Kenshin-gumi vs Shishio.

And, the battles in Samurai X, are among my favorites.

Also, Spike vs Vicious.

Yeah the Kenshin vs Saitou was awesome. But Kenshin was really starting to freak me out. o______O

Tifa Lockheart vs Whats-his-name in Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children. That is by far my favorite anime battle. Close on that is the rest of the fights from that movie. They are beyond words cool.

Kenshin vs Saitou was easily my favorite R-Kenshin fight.

Mezzo had some good ones.

And anyone seen the new Area-88 anime? Some pretty awesome airial battles there.

I'm with Azier the Swordsman, the Kenshin vs. Saitoh fight was the ultimate RK fight ever. How many fights actually have character development (regression?) all the way through them?

Apart from that, I think the battle scenes from 'Last Exile' were particularly well done too because you got the sweeping overview scenes of the battleships fighting in the clouds, with running commentary on the tactics, and then the persepective of individuals during the fight. It was a magnificent war epic, if you're into battle scenes.

Very true. Especially in the very first episode where we see the rifleman fight each other amongst the battleships. Epic indeed.

Some find this odd, but the cell-phone battles in Gate Keepers 21 were actually very well done and well executed on-screen. The sixth and final episode blew me away.

Actually, one I just watched the other day. The battle between Jubei and Freesia when falling from the mountain and into the forest below. Simply beautiful and innovative.

On terms of style and quality (certainly not drama) the first fight between Jin and Mugen of Samurai Champloo is one of the best. From the same series, the fight in episode 24 is fairly interesting, though not quite as effective.

I wouldn't rate this one as the "best", but I did enjoy it--the first duel between Kambei and Kyuzo in Samurai 7. I thought it was well choreographed.

Both of the Mosquiton/ Saint-Germaine battles in Master of Mosquiton.

The Spike/Viscious/Gren aerial battle in Cowboy Bebop episode 13.

The big bonanza fight in the last episode of Giant Robo.

I have to say I enjoyed the grappler fights in outlaw star, short and sweet.
The final battle in Iria (im a sucker for older animes)
As many people said already the one kenshin fight and most of last exile.
And its small but I loved the neji vs spider guy and naruto kyubi 2 vs sasuke curse 2

I liked the final confrontation between the U.N. Spacey fleet and the Marduk armada in Macross II. The final battle between the Macross and the Zentreadi grand fleet was pretty awesome, too

When Ichigo fights Zaraki in bleach, that was a really good fight scene, and then the last 9 or so Mai-HiME episodes were just nuts, really good series

Spike vs. Vincent (both fights)
"Program" from Animatrix is one giant fight.
The Ghost in the Shell 2 finale.

Kenshin vs. Saito, most definitely. The animation in that scene was so fluid, and everything was just...Wow! It was so fast! :D

Also, I have to add some of my favorite battle scenes from manga...

Aoshi vs. Kenshin was amazing in the manga (the anime really screwed it up with horrid animation). That fight is just fantastic!!

Also, in Magic Knight Rayearth...
The fight between the Magic Knights and Princess Emeraude. That was some pretty stunning material, with a major plot twist that really blows the mind. I love it!
Oooooh, Norris vs. Shiro in episode 10 of 08th MS Team! Definately one of the most spectacular Gundam battles!

What about Hiei versus Yusuke (YYH)? Needless to say, I only vote that one because there weren't really any "special powers" unless you count Hiei's mutant frog stuff. XDDD Needless to say, I only liked that fight because it kinda creeped me out...lol...

L versus Light in Death Note, though that's manga and isn't a physical battle.

I suppose my personal favourite is Tetsuo versus Neo-Tokyo.

Or (removed) versus (removed) in the Death & Rebirth movie. (Yeah, no-discussion of that one.)

From Advent Children (intentionally throwing aside the definition of "anime"), Tifa's fight was probably the best in terms of coreography and interesting thought.

Impact Alberto wrote:L versus Light in Death Note, though that's manga and isn't a physical battle.

Cool as that is, it isn't really a battle. Of course, there are the occasional physical skirmishes. In truth, L and Light's short bursts of fighting are actually better than the battles in some old anime.
