Hikaru no Go

Hikaru no Go the anime is coming to the States in December. Are you ready? I love the manga and I hope the anime is just as good. Has anyone seen it yet (via fansubs or something?)

(Seriously? There's going to be an anime? Wow. My siblings will be really excited.)

(Now that I know about it, I can't wait. I've read the first two volumes of the manga, with the third at the library as I type this, and am really enjoying it. Now my siblings wish to play go, and I've been working on becoming a stronger player so I can teach them.)

Hey, I'm excited too! I've read some of the manga, and it was great. It even got me to play Go online. I'd like to get a real board, but no one would play with me lol.

I've seen the anime and loved it. I've only read a few of the manga, but the anime seemed to follow the first few pretty closely. The only thing I didn't like about the anime was the ending. It was kind of an ending that wasn't an ending. Kind of like Full Metal Alchemist where you're left with a 'that's it?!? You've got to be kidding me!!!' sort of a reation. But you just couldn't beat the character development and story up until then. Maybe the manga had a better ending?

Ah, perhaps. I've only read the first 2 or 3 graphic novels, so I can't say. It should be a fun anime to watch here and there on tv though. Do you think CN will get it, or someone else?

What's your source for this? Who's handling the English version? Where's it airing?

"On December 27, Viz will release Hikaru no Go volume 1. The DVD will contain 4 episodes, in English and Japanese with English subtitles and will cost $24.98."

(I have no clue if it's going to be aired on TV, though...)

Even though my B-day is Dec. 4, that would be a perfect present... I can't wait to see it!

It's pretty depressing how Viz is handling the Shounen Jump DVDs :/ Well this one is billingual (a GOOD thing...) while Naruto is seperately dubbed/subbed and then there's the dub only One Piece... most likely due to Toei's oyness :/

It's extremely unlikely that HnG will be considered for TV at all. A show based on a strategic board game that most Americans no nothing about will get terrible ratings.

Hikaru no Go does have some catchy openings and endings.

Well if they're uncut DVDs and will NOT be airing on TV they wouldn't be. ...even if he is feminish I can actually SEE them leaving him like that in the dub. It's not like there's any hint of well, anything past his efete personality :/

...although I'm sure a line like "I lost a round of Go and killed myself!" WOULD get cut out if aired on TV... probably.

Probrably. Then again, what a silly reason to kill yourself, even if you had no other skills... Hmm...

I don't think there's anything to cut anyway.

Received the first episode of Hikaru no Go via the most recent issue of Shonen Jump.

Dub is fine although I admit that I don't have the sub to compare it to.

Yes.

Sai sounds basically how he looks.
