The Big O

I just have one question, without giving too much away could someone tell me if the ending is sad? I just don't like watching series where the main characters are killed off in the end.

and confusing at times.

I cannot believe how much longevity Big O has had. The thing's been running since...what...2001? That's a looooooong time for an anime show in the US!

Loved Big O. Collect production art from Big O. Watched regularly for 2 seasons... but then actually screamed "NOOOOO!" at the television during the last 10 seconds of the final episode!! :bang: One of my all-time least favorite endings to a show I really enjoyed. But I'd definitely watch it again, because it's worth it! (And please don't let one person's opinion of the ending turn you off. I hope 10 more people reply, "That GundamGeek is goofy! I loved the ending of Big O! ;)) But, to answer your original question, though it isn't an ending that I enjoyed, it wasn't sad per se.

It's not sad, just confusing. Rumor has it that the creators wanted to do a 3rd season but didn't have anyone to bankroll it. So while the episode works as a series finale if need be, there are still a lot of questions without definite answers. I guess they pretty much leave the viewer to make his or her own determinations.
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)

Grey FM Downtown -- a mix of mainstream and Christian pop and rock music (Listen Now!)

More real stuff...

No. You'd have to have seen the rest of the series for it to make any sense at all, and even then it's by no means clear.

As freerock1 said, the ending of Big O is all tied up with the issue of the supposed third season. Was this the ending the creators intended? Were they banking on having another season to explain things? Did they find out they couldn't do a third season too late and slap together the season two ending in a rush? Nobody knows for sure.

But I will say that I don't consider it a sad ending.

I think the best part about the finale was the fact that Dorothy was finally revealed to be more than just another android.
