Anime hair styles

(So, my mom is pushing for me to get my hair cut again. An idea that I had was to get an anime/Japanese style haircut, since everyone on the internet expects me to have one anyways. My problem: How should I do it? So I came here, with all you anime people.)

(So, hit me with hair styles that can be done with minimal styling, gel, ect. My only requirements are that I won't have to cut it very short, and that I be able to grow it out. My hairs currently inbetween my elbows and my shoulder.)

Sango! Sango from Inuyasha! short bangs, most of it pulled back in a ponytail with a small section that hangs long forward of the ears.

Actually, speaking on behalf of all males out there, "Don't cut it short!" This is a ploy by hairstylists who make money by cutting womens' hair as often as possible. Think about it, if all women wore their hair long, there'd be no gel sales, no "dos", nada. But happy men.

Get the back cut short, but keep the sides real long. I always saw that as an Anime hairdo.

(Don't worry, I'm not intending anything spikey. Me and spikey hair doesn't work. But the anime look can be done with a skilled stylist.)

You won't be able to copy the hair sticking up from the top of her head but in general it's a cute haircut.
Sorry that may be my only idea for now. Or go to a japanese hair styling site and print out a picture of the hairstyle you want. Maybe there is a magazine of a Japanese haircut at your stylist's shop. Who knows.
Sorry that's all I could find. If you give me a better idea maybe I could fish something up...
I like SP1's idea. If my hair were long enough I would probably go with Sango. ^-^
Only problem is my mom would probably kill me. =.=;;;

Here are some haircuts of what Naga was talking about, with the back shorter than in the front. Personally, I despise this hairstyle, but to your own. ^^

(And Eriana, I've seen a similar hairstyle on Saga from Tiny Snow Fairy (faerie >_<) Sugar, and I love it. If I ever decide to go with a short one that's what I'd want.)

Or you could do a reverse mullet.

Back on topic I would go with any hair that really catches your eye and one that would fit your face well.

hmmm, well, i always kinda liked motoko kusanagi's style from ghost in the shell, but it's basically a short in the back, longer in the front style, just messier, or you could just have it done like sakura from naruto if you want to keep it longer

You could also say that for most of the characters in anime. Take...Tai's hair from Digimon for example; how many other crazy haired guys have been made that look like him? Can you even copyright hair?
