*shrugs* I just like the style of clothing, really...nothing more than that. The chains especially. XD; chains are so fun. I look better in darker colors, and my friends have told me the "I haven't slept in 5 days" eyeliner looks good on me, so why not?

As long as you don't fall into the "goth" mindset, then I don't see anything wrong with dressing that way.

Thank you - jackets that can fit portable cd players are the epitome of cool, the military always gets the awesome things. What are all these cliches of "the gothic attitude"? This consists of forgetting that as Paul wrote, and Yeshua spoke in the Sermon of the Mount, only the EVER-LIVING can and should judge the hearts of men.

Like many others who posted here, I went for the fashion. The elaborate details and surprising variety of the Japanese Goth Scene (from Elegant Goth to Gothic Lolita to who-knows-what), I found incredible designs and artistis creativity in black, white, blue, red, pink, maroon, navy, orange, and more. It goes so far beyond the stereotypes and really did leave a lot open to individuality. I am partial to black, though, greatly because it looks elegant. This shows up in non-Goth areas of fashion too; I mean, tuxedos and sleek evening dresses are not particularly Goth (though the Japanese can incorporate anything, I've found...)

I still love Goth fashion, but don't wear it regularly because it's time consuming, expensive, and sometimes creates adverse first impressions (not that I care what people think of me, but sometimes it's hard to cultivate relationships when they won't stand within fifteen feet of me or think I'm going to be a bad influence on the young ones.)

Thanks for you posts. I'm asking partly to get a sense of stuff related to my english paper topic. I have to write a concept paper and after much indecisiveness I decided on goth.

I've found attatching Luna in place of Kuro (alas, no Kuro toys, gotta figure out a working pattern to mod to make one) on the shoulder of my backpack in the style of Kanako on my avatar goes some way in shifting perceptions from this direction, still....

A lot of my close friends are into the gothic culture. They adore dark cloths. They are often deep thinkers. (Although they get a *wee* bit insane) and have a wiry since of humor.
I'm a Hippy/Goth/kinda Punk/normal mix of blue, black and the occasional green. I love homemade jewelry (cheap too).
