Not hard to understand. Open cockpits, machine gun armament...

If you can recall in the first couple of episodes, Claus even performed an "immelman roll," a not so common technique for the pilots of WW1 and seemingly in LE.

Yeah, and Dio kept calling him Immelman and referring to it for most of the series.

Ironically, I've heard that Max Immelman's actual maneuver isn't the one that bears his name at all.

Those huge battleships can be considered the zepplins. :)

Except the ships in LE shoot back. :thumb:

Heh, I suppose for Mr. Immelman, the two worlds sort of collide in a funny way. And can you believe that soldiers fought in what would've been "the front" above the clouds? :)

My guess is that somebody who worked on LE has a lot to connect with early 20th century techology (WW1). For seem reason, the entire show has the feel of Europe of that era (minus the weapons of the Guild of course).

I think it was interesting that they never named the Planet that it takes place on.
Although from the clues given it seems that the time is something like several
hundred years after colonization.Exile apparently was some sort of Terraforming
device that some how was unable to complete it's assigned programming.Ok
that is just my own personal conjecture but it appears that is what it was from
the way things turned out in the end.
It's also probable that the High Nobility and Royalty were all descended from
the Senior Officer Staff of the original crew.
Again conjecture.

I think Laputa: Castle in the Sky, and Biggles played a large part in the inspiration for Last Exile. Anything else that may have influenced them?

More like chobobo racing, Final Fantasy style. Come to think of it, I can't recall what they actually call the bird-things in the series...

Yup, I thought it was something like that, but didn't want to say Elvis or something like that (lol). She's so darn adorable isn't she? Do you know that song I mentioned? I think I saw the name Akino Arai?

After my third watch through, I think Delphine may be my favorite villain. She is so deliciously evil. The way she uses Alvis as a human shield while smiling and waving to Alex at the same time, its just so evil. Alvis was also super-cute, but I start to get teary-eyed every time I see her because I know what happens in the show later.
I also thought it was a neat twist how Claus and Lavie had been flying in Alex's vanship the whole time, and not their fathers'
I miss that anime so much. There's alot that I missed to. I like Dio. I just knew he was good deep down inside. I seem to have a thing for bad boys go good (sweat drop). Is there more episodes of LE?

I am now the proud owner of a Last Exile Claus Valca bobblehead. I saw it at Media Play and immediately envisioned it on my desk. About half an hour later, that's exactly where it ended up. I gotta watch that series again sometime. It's just so beautiful.

This was the first Gonzo series I liked. I got into them thanks to their contributions to Animatrix. (the "Second Renaissance" shorts) I also recommend their underrated Gadguard, which really should've caught on better. It's kind of like Iron Giant

Hey speaking of Media Play, I heard they're going out of business soon. I gotta go before they do. I saw lots of really adorable plushies. I think I even saw Kurama. Well, it had red hair and green eyes anyways (sweat drop).

I already took advantage of my local Media Play's going-out-of-business sale. I totally ransacked the manga and anime shelves

Hey i just wanted to know, in the reveiw section, it says

Sexual Content Details
The most objectionable instance is when it’s hinted that something may have occurred between 2 of the characters while they were marooned in a desert, (nothing actually did happen). One of the female characters wears a dress that exposes a fair amount of bosom, but it is nothing serious and only in about 2 or 3 episodes. Overall this is very clean anime.

Is this in the first volume or in the later episodes

As CDLViking said, it really wasn't a big deal. Honestly, I didn't see any insinuation that anything had happened while the two characters were marooned. When I read the review, I conceeded that some people could draw that conclusion, but it was by no means any blatant insinuation.

Chances are, if you hadn't read it in this review, you probably wouldn't have even noticed the incident.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I think what is meant by hinted is that other characters are talking about it as if something happened between them. I think it's quite clear that nothing actually happened.

I own Last Exile, and have watched it all the way through twice. I never came to the conclusion that Klaus and can't remember her name were involved that way at all. Some people need to get their mind out of the gutter me thinks. (Same with Noir - although that is a little less subtle).
