There's a great book called "Tale of Three Kings"

I find it relevent, but maybe I'm being hypocritical...

In any case, I don't see why there should be a problem with changing your name... If someone was offended by my name, it wouldn't be that hard for me to change... I mean, I don't know who could be offended by MY name, but you have to admit that your name is a bit suggestive... If changing your name is too hard... Don't you have any other kinds of nicknames? I mean, for instance, if my ex girlfriend came on here with her nickname, she'd be banned, but she could go on as other things... Are you a one trick pony? You can come up with something else, can't you? Something not so controversial? It's not "changing who you are" it's just a bit of a comprimise to keep from offending, and a very small one at that... That's just how I see it, anyhow...

sorry to have you leave..:(

My two cents, though: We need to strike a balance between pleasing God and man. God did command us to get along with our brothers and sisters as well. Part of pleasing God is pleasing His children according to God's way (do I make sense?...). Anyway..

I hold back pleasing man when 1) pleasing man becomes a priority over pleasing God and 2) I'm forced to do something completely unbiblical

If just changing my nickname helps make my brothers and sisters feel more comfortable, I'll do it coz I don't see how that displeases God. But then again, this is just my opinion and I leave this between you and God. God bless you whereever He places you! ^^

1st a funny story... sometimes we don't realise how something looks to someone else. A co-worker's wife (from years ago) signed up on AOL with her own screen name. She worked for one of the airlines, behind the desk, and chose the name "Fly Me" as her user name. She just couldn't understand why she kept getting hit on in the chat rooms, it eventually got to the point where someone "flashed" her online (sent her a nudie of himself). Not that anyone here would be like that, just to point out that maybe "preacha" doesn't quite understand why the name look offensive to some.

2ndly the ballance issue has a scriptural basis. MT 17:24-27 - Jesus (Yeshua) paid the temple taxes from the fishes mouth so as not to offent those of the temple, and these where the skewed religeous people of the day.

Hopefully you'll decide to stay.

Well, while I'm sorry to see you go, JP, I didn't think the request made was all that intolerable or unjust. In the past we've asked users with "iffy" names to change them, and it was never a problem. I hope, however, that the Lord leads you where He deems fit, and if that's not at CAA, then I'm ok with that.

I completely disagree. You see, I won't say what, but there are certain things that either some people talk about on this board, or some avatars bother me, however I keep it to myself. Because, I know that we all have different convictions about different things. Just think about it this way, many people asked Paul to change the way he does things, but because he didn't compromise who he was, some of the most important books of the Bible are written by him. He didn't write half of the New Testement because he compromised. So in a way I see where juggalo_preacha is coming from. That and I will admit I am being a little bias because he is my best friend. See, all Andy is trying to do is win souls through this name. The reason why, is there is a lot of "juggalos" out there that are hurting and confused and the reason he used that name is because he thought he might of found some ex- jugglaos to talk with. I am not here to stir up trouble or start a meaniningless fight. I am just here to give a different view point. If I stepped on any toes I apologize. Just so this whole topic doesn't get out of control, this will be the absolute last time I post on this topic, so I don't offend anybody. But the thing is I might offended someone, which goes to the whole point you can't please everybody. Well that is just some food for thought. God Bless..... everybody.
2 Timothy 2:23-26 (Read From The New Living Translation)(23) Again I say, don't get involved in foolish, ignorant arguments that only start fights. (24) The Lord's servants must not quarrel but must be kind to everyone. They must be able to preach effectively and be patient with difficult people. (25) They should gently teach those who oppose the truth. Perhaps God will change their hearts and they will believe the truth. (26) Then they will come to their senses and escape the Devils trap. For they have been held captive by him to do whatever he wants. .

I think a better explanation of what a "juggalo" is might have helped, however. It's not something that's very apparent.

That's not entirely true...

1. The things he didn't change were things that had a bearing on salvation or things for the specific church he was dealing with
2. He DID often change things, don't have an exact refference, but he would eat a kosher diet and follow Jewish law when he was with the Jews (I just read this a couple weeks ago) and would change for when he was with Gentiles. He became "all things for all people" that he might "lead some to Christ."

Juggalo is VERY close to Giggalo, which is a man who manipulates women to get money, or more commonly, a male prostitute. This is probably a nickname, and while it is very personal to him, it's not him... It's not something people are telling him to change that GOD told him to do. It's not something that people are asking him to do that would comprimise biblical values to change, it's something that, on the other side of it, is very suggestive and would be taken the wrong way more often than the right.

I dont' think it's wrong for him to call himself that, but for the same reason as I won't post a link to a site that I enjoy that I think deals with an issue that's close to the top in importance today. It would be better for him to put it in his profile where he can explain it better.

Also, the reason I brought up the "Tale of Three Kings" is because he had a problem with the leadership on this site. "Tale of Three Kings" is a good book for people who feel they have been hurt by leadership. Basically, the 3 kings are Saul, David, and Aabsolom. Saul is the bad leader, David is the good follower. David is the Good leader, Aabsolom is the bad follower... People often feel hurt by leadership in churches and make big explanations as to why they're leaving, to give an opening for more people to leave, which often rips the churches in 2... I'm assuming this is purely a Protestant anomoly, but in Protestant churches of nearly every denomination, this is rediculously common... And, it's sad and shouldn't be happening.

The thing is, many of the "Aabsoloms" (who may or may not be underneath "sauls") are legitimately hurt. They have legitamate reasons to leave and even to take people with them, in the eyes of human logic. But, to cause dischord "look at what this saul did to me" and division is not right, no matter what the case is. And, to make a "going away" speach like this amounts to that... I'm not innocent of this... I've done that too many times... You can probably dig up a "going away" speech I gave here a couple months ago during the swearing debate, but I was wrong... It's unbiblical to do things to cause division... That's why I said that...

But, then again, it's probably just as unbiblical for me to do this in public instead of private... I guess I have a lot of learning and growing to do...
