Um... I wouldn't get a used PS2... Usually the reason people sell them is that they stop playing DVD's and stop playing about half of the games as well... It's a big problem with old PS2's and very common, so I'd ONLY get a new PS2 which won't have the problem at all, and there's also the chance that getting it used means it's broken allready... Especially on Ebay... It's not illegal to sell a broken PS2 on Ebay, it's very common. Broken PS2's, Broken Dreamcasts, broken everything... You really have to ask questions and be very careful getting stuff on Ebay in general... I wouldn't suggest getting a game system newer than PS1 there...
I hope they lower the price soon... I mean, both the competitor systems are cheaper... Of course, Sony doesn't care... They're the most popular... Man... Stupid sony... I hope that Gamecube gets more popular and forces PS2 to get cheaper...
Someday I'm going to reverse engineer the PS3 and go back in time and sell it as my own product when the Atari was released...
