So sorry, Gypsy-chan. I forgot to add this bit in the Samurai 7 review.

While I did give S7 an 8/10, I love it to pieces. Its major saving grace is the wonderful characterization of the main people in the series: the seven samurai and the three farmers that go with them. It is true that not much character development happens, in that no major life changes happen to many of them. But you do get to know each character very well, what drives them, what makes them happy or sad, what they really feel beyond what they want to show people. They took what the movie implied and added on it, in a good way. It has been a while since I have seen characterization that good from the recent anime.

I own the first four episodes, and I love it so far. One of the things that I would like to add is that there is a western that was adapted to Kurosowas movie also, called the Magnificent 7, which was made into a tv show that aired for one season on CBS. If you liked the western movie, or the tv, you will like this anime.

Ahh well Samurai 7 may start out like the Kurosowas movie and the Magnificent 7 movie, but it gets more and more "out there" in terms of wierdness in the later episodes. They gradually add in the si-fi techy type stuff like people in huge life support capsules, and floating fortresses, as the series progresses. Personally it turned me off of the series, but some people might prefer that type of stuff. :)

Also maybe this is just me, but I think EKmisao should have included under Religious Material details the fact that this series has cloning in it. Technically that's not a religion per say but I know lots of people are against it for religious reasons so they might like to be warned that it 's in this series.

Hehe, thanks for noting. You can add it in, Gypsy-chan. ^^ Also, some people might object to Ukyo being so....erm....un-manly? ^^ Nothing serious, but it might get on the nerves.

On thing, I believe it's Gonzo/ Funimation, not Geneon.

I'm a little surprised that there was no mention in Religious Material that Kirara is a "water priestess" in some Eastern religion. Outside of the first couple episodes this isn't a major element of the story, but it does pop up from time to time. Also, prayers are frequently made, in the context of an Eastern religion.

Otherwise, though, a pretty good review.
Theme Scripture: Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1)

And a verse for all us single folks: Do we have no right to take along a believing wife, as do also the other apostles, the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas? (1 Corinthians 9:5)
