Have You Got Ready For A Trip And..........

Postby ashfire » Sun Oct 23, 2005 5:45 pm

Have you ever got ready for a trip and something go wrong before you get ready to leave.
My pickup truck has managed to have a warning light come on which means a trip to a shop to find out what turned it on. This happened last year before I got on the road to Neko Con that morning. So over to the shop and the light went out before they could find out what it was.
Now this week two weeks before I go to Neko Con a steel brake line splits and it is in a place where it is hard to get at behind the gas tank, but I got it out and now I have to wait until Monday to fix it and get it back in place or route it another way.
Now I worry that the truck is 10 years old and what else can happen before I leave or on the way there or on the way back, plus I have someone riding with me.
If I could get a good amount of down payment money I go get a brand new pickup and a new camper cap. The cap I have now won't fit a new truck because it was designed for my 10 year old pickup. I would love to reuse BUT! No I am told by the people I bought it from.

Do you have any friends that have their own car and could drive you there?
Anyone?
Sorry, it sounds like a bummer though...
It may be an attack from the enemy, spiritually. I would consider praying about this. You never know. I'll be praying for you.

Well I hope to have my pickup ready to go soon after not being able to use it this weekend for checking to see what I need for the con.
The person who is riding with me I have not seen in a year and at the time we able to see each other their car was also a older car, so I am unsure if they got a new or more up to date car at this time. I could ask just in case I have a problem with my truck, but I do hope I will make it there and back with no problems and then I think I will have to look at money and start looking at the car lots.
If all fails I'll rent something to drive there and back or for a while.

Lots of times. Usually someone gets sick on the morning of departure, which is really annoying.

I had that happen to me when I was going to the beach for a firefighters convention one year and I rented a place there months in advance and there was no way out of it that monring. I had to drive 3 to 4 hours there by myself to pickup my keys. I was sick Saturday to Wednesday with a cold in June.

That sucks.
I got sick in Florida on a vacation once. I had to lay on the couch for the remainder of my vacation. What a burn.
So do you think everything will work out though?

Well so far the weather has not helped with things. I don't have a garage or carport to set my pickup truck under to stay a little dry because it has rained yesterday and today. Tomorrow it will clear up but my father has to take me to work and come back to the house to work on my pickup truck.
The first brake line that was made leaked at the fitting so it was back to the store for more. Plus today I had jury duty and didn't ended up on the jury so I was told to go home and also I got a flu shot so that I would be ready for the crowds of Neko Con come Nov 4 thu Nov 6.
Now I have to wait for info on a fire dept funeral for a well known fire chief from a near by fire dept in our area. The man and his family ran a tight ship in their fire company and could beat any fire dept all around in contest.
I heard to practice for tug of war they tie a rope to a fire engine and pull it up hill.

Well things are looking up (Hopefully) because I have my pickup back on the road today. It feels like it will stop on a dime. I may do some more to it by Friday or this weekend before I drive it to Neko Con.
I thank you Eriana and any others for your thoughts and prayers about my little problem.
Now I just want to know if anyone else has had problems before a trip?
