Ethernet drivers for Windows 98

Postby Zilch » Thu Oct 20, 2005 10:11 am

Hey, I'm working on an old Dell Dimension XPS R400, and the thing just got reloaded with a new hard drive. Windows isn't picking up anything when I search for drivers on the disk, and I can't find any workarounds or downloadable drivers anywhere else. This is a work order for my tech center, so I can't do anything too drastic to it, otherwise, we'll get our butts sued or something.

...please help before I shoot this person's computer.

What type of NIC does it say is installed? I imagine it's some sort of Intel chip set.

You might try removing the device, and adding it back. Do you have the 98SE CD?

It wasn't recognizing anything at first, but after a talk with my instructor, I know it's a Netgear GA311 Gigabit Ethernet.

I also chatted with Dell. *snicker* I'll post that later...but anyhoo, I think the problems behind me now, so thanks for your help, or trying-to-help.
