Actually, I read the KS a few weeks ago when I got bored. IMO it was pretty boring...

I've read 11 on the list (don't have time to list them right now, maybe later), but there are several on there that are on my really want to read some time list.

OK, here's why Goosebumps got on the list. One word: occult. Now, can someone please tell me what's so wrong with Where's Waldo? Had too much trouble finding him?

Apparently in one of the Where's Waldo books there was a lady who was supposedly topless. I don't know if that's been confirmed or rebutted, but that's why its been "banned".

Personally, I think those "I Spy" books should be banned, on account of pure pointlessness.

7. Flowers in the Attic by Virginia C. Andrews (read in 5th grade because I didn't know any better. NEVER NEVER read this book... it warped me for years o_O)

9. Goosebumps (series) by R.L. Stine (read a couple, borrowed from my sister)
10. Hamlet by William Shakespeare (read in high school for class)
11. The Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling (read for fun, haven't been able to read 6 yet)
12. How to Eat Fried Worms by Thomas Rockwell (read half by teacher in class 2nd grade, still don't know the end...)
13. I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou (read in high school for class, we had a big freak-out at our school over this book, some people went to the school board over it even, wasn't banned or anything though)
14. James and the Giant Peach by Roald Dahl (read in grade school for fun)

Huh, more than I thought. And the strange thing is, a good deal of those I read in grade school and middle school... lol.

I think the reason Chaucer is on the list is because he can be rather

I seem to remember finding that when trying to find Waldo. It didn't make an impression on me at the time and now I couldn't even tell you which book it was in.

I find it ironic that two of the books on the banned list,The Pigman and
Flowers For Alegernon,were required reading when I was in high school.
Actually I think the reason why The Pigman was banned was because of the

Bingo, but mainly the swearing. Flowers for Algernon and The Pigman were on the required list when I was in high school.

Flowers for Algernon the novella was excellent. Flowers for Algernon the NOVEL was a bit more sexually oriented. o.o;;

I've read about 20 of the books on the list, mainly for middle school and high school. The Giver by Lois Lowry is my favorite.

What is Where's Waldo?
Here in Australia we have something called the Where's Wally? books. I think they are British. They are classics and very fun. Maybe the two are similar?

Waldo and Wally is exactly the same - just different names in different countries. Here we have both Wally & Waldo (which is confusing).

This is not unprecedented - in South Africa we had Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles for a very long time. For some reasons they change the name for different regions.

Oh, I think they changed the word to "Hero" because somewhere someone complained about the word "ninja" (this is unconfirmed but plausible). Off course they haphazzardly inserted the word "Hero" in the theme song as well (instead of recording the whole thing over) which is rather irritating.

The singing would go something like "Teenage Mutant HERO turtles". "Teenage Mutant HERO turtles". "Teenage Mutant HERO turtles" Oh the horrible memories...

Most people don't bother to read lengthy novels these days.I mean have you ever sat down to read the average Dickens novel which is over 700 pages in length?
When I was in Bible School it took me around a month or so to read

I have to say, with the exception of The Turner Diaries and parts of the Cantebury Tales, these are good books (although I didn't exactly enjoy All's Quiet on the Western Front, The Grapes of Wrath, or Frankenstein). I guess some people just try to ban almost anything objectionable, or anything they disagree with. Also, the Scarlet Letter is pretty inaccurate about the Puritans, but a good book none the less.
