how to cope while waiting for Fruits Basket v. 12

Postby soul alive » Thu Sep 15, 2005 3:54 pm

since Fruits Basket v. 12 is not being released till DECEMBER, i'm trying to find ways to cope. i figure some of my (mostly non-serious) options are to:

-read and re-read 1-11 until 12 shows up, alternating with watching the anime.

-write Tokyopop in an attempt (or several attempts) to convince them that they really, really should release sooner, or alternately, visit Tokyopop in person.

-make a countdown chart.

-learn Japanese and buy v. 12 in Japanese

just wondering how the other fans out there are coping...

(seriously though, i can cope, i'm just whining about having to do so. ^_^)

If you're a poor college student, figure out how much of your grocery money you could stash per month to have enough to buy it. ; __ ;

Well I'm reading translations and looking at scans of the chapters that come out in Japan. ^^;;
Funny thing, Barnes & Noble's (bookstore) website says that the 12th volume is already out and that the 13th volume comes out next month. Either they really got there dates wrong or they still thinking it's coming out every month.

Go off into a corner and twitch uncontrollably until someone gives you volume twelve or a major dose of valium. Seriuosly, I'm reading the other series I'm collecting. It also is slightly easier on my budget because I'm spending about $10 less than what I would have normally upon visiting the bookstore.

What is this "coping" you speak of? Aren't we supposed to be gathering pitchforks and torches?

XD; Actually I'm fine with Furuba coming out in Dec. I mean... its annoying, but its giving me a chance to buy other series like One Piece and Hikaru no Go... and all those series I need to catch up on.

XD i'm fine with it (just a 'little' whiney) and am planning on just getting the updates on other series i read. after all, it is the middle of september now, so just 2 1/2 ish months left. :thumb:

although re-reading the series won't work very well for me, 1-8 are currently with my sister 8 hours of driving away. (she swore she wouldn't ever read them, but i got the anime, which she ended up watching (since she watches all the anime i get), and then she borrowed my manga... very sneakily too, didn't even say she was borrowing them.)

I just looked on Barnes and Noble .com and they already have it coming out end of the month! Then 13 is coming in Nov!
Can anyone else confirm this or do my eyes deceive me?!

:drool: i would be quite the happy camper if they released earlier, but tokyopop's website still shows 12 releasing in december. which doesn't necessarily mean anything, because it doesn't seem like they update their site too much or too thoroughly. *stabs* <.< >.> ... you didn't see that...

on the other hand, anime news network says:
anime news network wrote: Fruits Basket (G.novel 12) 2005-09-12
Fruits Basket - (G.novel 13) 2005-10-11

i guess it'll be confirmed that december is the actual date if 12 doesn't start showing up in stores by the end of the month... :sniffle:

I was just perusing amazon.com in a vague hope that they would have Furuba 411... and I found this:
amazon.com wrote:Fruits Basket, Vol. 13
by Natsuki Takaya (Illustrator) (Paperback - April 11, 2006)

2. Fruits Basket, Vol. 12
by Natsuki Takaya (Paperback - December 30, 2005)

Nooo. :waah!: Different places show different dates... why can't people get their information syncronized and post the right release date??!?1 :shady: :bang:

Seriously, though, I think we're just going to have to keep checking the bookstores just in case, figure that December will be the release date, and be happily surprised if it does release earlier than that.

...Or someone could send an email to Tokyopop about it...

Seeing as how Tokyopop is the one releasing it and I haven't seen their release dates be wrong (that I know of)... I think they're release dates are the right ones.

I never trust Amazon.. they have the wrong release date for KH2 also.

I think anything on amazon.com has to be taken with a grain of salt, especially reviews... but they confirm Tokyopop's date. It would be nice, though, if 'everyone's' release dates matched. *sigh of frustration* ah well, that's what happens when the release schedule doesn't stay constant.

oh well. I'm a big kid, I can deal till December, especially since I have other series.

Oh, nooooo! Well, I started watching the anime to fill the gap, but I think I'm just gonna go back and re-read vols 1-11. To tell the truth, I don't really like the anime. It is so . . . stiff. And the actors all sound like they are 35 years old. Maybe I should switch to the subbed version to see if I like it better. I hate it when companies back a book or a movie. Consider Disney with Tortorro and Whispers of the Heart (instead releasing the really ultra-awful Pom Poko [Studio Ghibli's one disaster, in my opinion]) . . . or failing to release Dr. Syn (Alias The Scarecrow). I've given up on that one since they've supposedely been going to release it for two years. At least Tokyo Pop will be releasing Furuba in 3 months. I haven't tried to find any scanlations. I don't know to know ANY spoilers!

I found that the manga and the anime diverged quite abit starting around V. 10 or so. I also prefer the manga on this one, although since someone gave me the anime box set as a gift, who was I to say no? :thumb:

Eh? I just checked, and Tokyopop's site still shows a december date... but that doesn't necessarily mean anything, since it does say 'subject to change'. *sigh* I'm taking a rather pessimistic view on this... deciding that it'll show up in december, and planning on being very pleasantly surprised if it's early, but not dissappointed if it isn't. I've just given up, and will wait till it appears in my local store(s), whenever that is, since I can't order off the net.

I know, several sites show earlier release dates online... but again, they might have had the old bimonthly schedule up, and not changed it... or something. But lines are crossed somewhere. *cries* I just wish they wouldn't keep getting my hopes up.
