Visiting Mave, and Scribs for that matter, would be cool, indeed. However, Michigan is a big place and I have no idea where on the hand they are. I'm only vaguely aware of where on the hand I am.

There's a GM plant in New Jersey, so perhaps I will find my way to the Land of Lunis someday, too.

Lansing last weekend and considering the few Hampton Inns within the local proximity, I reckon that there had to be some moments where you were only a few miles away from me. Or better still, we might have driven by each other without having a single clue.

But still, I don't recall seeing any hatted guys during my visit so I guess I must have just missed you by chance.

For those of you who picked on my state of residence, may you have lotsa snow wherever you live (if not more than what you already have).

I always find it amusing that people tend to compress vast areas of land into a single concept in their mind. "Inkhana and Ashley both live in Texas, so they're practically neighbors." When dealing with the world, people tend to forget that each state is really rather large.

My brother and sister, in their travels abroad, were stumped by the most illogical of questions: "Your from South Africa? We know people in Kenya - do you know them?" And they didn't ask it as a joke. Its strange how wrong (and illogical) people can be sometimes.

That's funnier than my example. I was thinking about how people expect me to know everyone who lives in the state of oHIo. But having to know every person who lives in Africa would be a bigger challenge.

The Africa question was pretty funny. Almost as bad as when people refer to "the county of Africa." I have a Guatamalen friend who is frequently asked if Gautamala is in Mexico.

I wish I had an interesting story that demonstrated that, but since nothing comes to mind, I have to mention a set of lines from the musical "Fiddler on the Roof" that are exactly along the lines of what we've been discussing. In the scene I'll be paraphrasing, several families of Jews are moving from Russia to America:

ERRRRGGGHHH! I hate to even mention the fact that I used to live in a couple of countries in Africa. MOst of the time my fellow Americans just think its just one little town or something. I mean, one person even asked me to speak "African", *obviously* the universal african language. It just gets on one's nerves.
