Romantic Love?

Only skimmed most of this thread...

As for the orignal topic... I can't really say... I've never really been in love. I do have a long distance, online boyfriend, but... I'm not sure if we are drifting apart or will drift apart... you see, I don't think he's saved... He says he has some of the same beliefs that I do, but... I don't think he's really a Christian... and unless something happens, well, I cannot be unevenly yolked. So yeah... I've been praying... pray for me?

As for romantic love... I totally dissagree with MillyFan. Sorry, girl. I do think there is something in romantic love that is not merely lust, and that it is a gift of God for men and women. I understand where you are coming from, being a romantically "cold" person myself. The prospects of doing the typical "getting married and having kids" thing.. scares me to death. I've never been kissed. I am 24. I am happy as a single, celebate person and a loner. I sometimes feel weird being a virgin at my age, because of what the world/society tells us about that... (which is WRONG), but, you know, getting into those kind of relationships is just too complicated, and will, with me, wind up painful for everyone involved. Still, I think that for those who have it, romantic love is a good thing. I think MillyFan needs to re-read Song of Solomon :sweat:


On the topic of writerly advice... what she said was right... research is good, especially speaking with people who've experienced what your charcters have. I'll share my experience in writing my original novel. The main character happens to be a mother. When I shared the first chapters with my writer's club, the members of the club found a lot of her reactions and apparent lack of emotion unrealistic. I was not writing my character well because... I have never been a mother. I got the advice to talk with mothers, (including members of my writer's club)... I have since added and have been adding things to my novel to develop my character more, and to give her more realisitc emotion and reactions - from information gleaned from speaking with mothers I know and asking them how they would act and feel in my character's situation. (My sister and a good friend of mine were great help!). Now, my character is a lot more developed, and my writer's club has noted my improvements in writing her. Writing... is a combination mainly of reasearch and imagination. There is the old addage of "write what you know", which holds true - it is best to base your writing on what you personally know and feel... but it is possible to write, and to write well, things that you do not know - with the right reasearch and imagination.

I really have to say that there is not need for this thread anymore. We have answered Chris's questions over and over (Chris do not take this as offensive, your questions are valid and you did not seem repetitive to me about it. If you have been offended please pm me and I shall correct my folly.) with our opinions, ran around in circles, and even an arguement broke out.

It would best to end it as thus:

The definition of Romantic love is subjective. It could be only classified in lust and sex, it could be non-sexual intimacy, or it could be defined in other ways that I have no idea on. It is how you believe it to be that is important and really doesn't matter if you listen to the word of God. He will show you the path you should take on this very precarious issue. Follow him and you shall not stumble.

Chris, when the right one comes around it will hit you like a bag of bricks, and there will be no mistake in it. This is my opinion of course since that has not happened to me yet, but I believe that my love for my wife will know no bounds when she comes around. Do not dwell on it for it shall answer itself in due time.

I am not a mod but I see that this will only lead to arguements about what love means and such, and should be discussed by the use of PMs. If anything pm me and I shall give you what wisdom I can give or you can talk with people who have witnessed this blessing first hand.

If anything, take it up with the one who gave us the ability to love.

Oh and on writing, why don't we take this to the appropriate thread. Shadsie, this is not meant to be offensive, but this will only lead to off topic discussions. If anything, I will create the appropriate thread.

It takes a good bit to make me laugh at someones ignorance....Milly you gave me a good laugh when I got in from work. I do not normaly post on closed threads..because I feel they were finalized. However..this instance will get a special post. Like has been said by other members in the past...why don't you try reading posts in segments. I mentioned the PM thing not as some sort of accusation..but because I figured telling you to do anything was useless. (as you never give a flying rip what a staff member says here) So get your panties out of a bunch and come back down off your soap box.

As for BrianC, he decided to leave CAA after we have given him many chances. He was banned for a week early on in his stay here after he flew into Ashleys face for no reason...Brian had a problem disagreeing without going nuts on the board. Anger managment? Thats pretty funny. Your lucky your wrong, because if I was an angry person I would have banned you months ago and acted like an angry child. However I am a forgiving person that can let things go. But because you read a few posts i make, you have the right to judge me, heck why don't you judge me some more. As for the bullying issue...thats pretty funny...because if you had a clue what you were talking about you would realise how foolish a statement that is...why don't you talk to some of the mods that are in staff meetings we have...when I am willing to give people a chance when nobody else will...since you brought Brian C up...who do you think gave Brian that huge second chance? If I am a bully and a slander, then add liar to your list of sins. Because last time I checked I have recieved maybe 1 PM from you since the site has been here. So there we go...a few Scrip on Homosexuality (cause I think you need to read some more Bible before you spout it) Some on respecting authority..which you really don't care about. And some about judgement. I am done with this Milly, you don't know what your talking about when it comes to me it seems...because if you did you would not say some of the things you do. When you get back from your week ban from the site, (which btw was done by those other..non-bully mods and admins while I was at work) I hope this is done with. Ok, I have decided to edit that last post. I have recieved quite a few PM's over the past few days...other staff members have recieved countless IM convos. It seems everyone has an opinion on what I said and how I said it. Having given this a great deal of thought, I would like to apologize to the members of CAA for how I said what I said. It should have been done in PM. I would reopen this thread for comments...but I really do not think that needs to be done. Everyone pretty much feels one way or the other...So this thread can just fade into oblivion now. Brother In Christ
