Well the first clip is almost done. Yay! :grin:

This next clip is a little longer since it will be our "Christmas break project". Here is the clip that we are going to be dubbing:

If any of you girls are interested in being a part of this you should download the clip and see which character you want to be. (Sorry about the huge size of it, I really need to spend some time figuring out the editing program I am using.) Oh and by the way I guess to some extent this and the other clips we are going to be doing contain spoilers so you have been warned!

Now I'm going to sort of expalain what is happening in this clip. It starts with the Beast Princess fighting Shannon (that's Rashir). The Beast Princess is aggressive and sort of bossy so she wants to defeat Shannon (which is why they are fighting). She asks Raquel (that's me) if she wants to help. Then we go to Pacifica (that's my sister) and Eirote talking. (Pacifica is the one with the blond hair). Then there is a scene of the two dragoons talking. The one with the bigger bow in her hair is Zefiris and the other one is Natalie. Finally there is a scene of the Beast Princess and Shannon fighting again.

So the characters we will need:
Beast Princess - She's very forceful and aggressive. She makes several more key appearences in the next episodes so if we do clips of those we would want you to do those lines too.

Eirote - A somewhat minor character. She basically supports the Beast Princess and is also the tech expert.

Zefiris - A major character. When we first meet her she shows almost no emotion, but as you can see in this scene emotions are starting to show. As a dragoon her job is to help and protect the scrapped princess. Shannon is her "master" but the only reason she picked him is because he looks like her old master. She makes A LOT of appearences in the series so if you want to be her you will be getting lots of lines.

Natalie - Another somewhat minor character. She shows up alot for about 3 episodes and then only gets like 3 lines for the rest of the series. Because she is basically a computer AI she comes off as very cold, but she is dedicated to protecting the scrapped princess.

So start thinking of what character you would like to be. I'll post tryout lines once we get the first clip done.

Okay -- some of us are DivX challenged, though. I don't know if you have an alternative encoding method. (Straight-up MPEG-1 would be wonderful, and works for just about everyone.)

and then have it up for a limited time. I can compress it using any of the following ways:

Cinepack Codec by Radius
DivX 5.1 Codec
Indeo video 5.10
Intel Indeo(R) video R3.2
Intel Indeo video 4.5
Intel IYUV codec
Microsoft H.261 Video Codec
Microsoft H.263 Video Codec
Microsoft RLE
Microsoft Video 1

Do you know if any of those would work for you? Otherwise I suppose I could just not compress it and leave it as a .avi. Although then it would be huge! :wow!:

Of what you list above, QuickTime can (allegedly) play back any of these codecs as of 6.3: H.261, H.263, MS Video 1 and Cinepak. I think I'd prefer Cinepak more than the others, but any of the four is okay.

Indeo used to have some support with additional OS 9 extensions but I don't see it in the native codec list, and QT6 doesn't seem to have it integrated, so I think those four would be best.

Hey...if you're still needing voices, I can be any of the females--would love to try for Natalie. I haven't downloaded the clip yet because of my slow connection, but I should be able to within the week. Is that soon enough? And is this still all going on?

*is giddy* I've always wanted to voiceover for something! I'm currently voicing Shaun the Sheep in my church's puppet ministry...but that's the only practice I've had.

Good ol' Shaun. I love knowing I can sound like a male sheep. ...Sorry, offtopic!

Shooraijin : I can try compressing the final product using Cinepak. If you want I can even make a "test clip" where I just do a few seconds and we can see if it will even work.

PinkCow : If you read the earlier parts of this thread you can sort of see the format of how this process goes. First we post try-out lines, then we pick a person, then that person sends in their lines. If all goes as planned the webpage and the first clip should be up and running by the 15th. That is also when we will post the try-out lines for the clip I just put up. That way everyone can work on their parts over Christmas vacation.

If I could get rid of the fake brittish accent thing I tend to do... -_- I have no clue why I do it, but in any case it really is the ONE THING that degrades my acting ability... Is that called an "affectation?" I would think not, because I'm not doing it intentionally, but it is annoying...

The clip's video plays fine. I don't hear any music, though. QuickTime detects the audio as MPEG-1 Layer 3 but there's no sound. Normal or no?

Ok here is 2 more clips. And Shooraijin if these don't work for you I'm in trouble because those other codes you said would work I figured out won't compress for some reason on my computer. :stressed:

Fun, fun. But yeah try these two. Technically I used the same compression format for both of them but I was testing something out so I made a second one and I figured I might as well put it up. Supposedly these will work on a mac. :eyebrow:

Oh and Ashley can you get these to work? I actually like this format better since I think it makes the file smaller then the DivX coding. So if you can get it to work that is what I am going to use. (Oh and the clips are the opening scene again and then a part from the first episode, where you get to see both Raquel and Shannon kicking butt

WAHHHHHHH I'm going as fast as I can but to be blunt....I'm sick of hearing Myrrhlynn say subjects of flame dance.
I am the voice of Pacifica, and I am putting it all together, Me, MYSELF, ALL ALONE! WAHHH!!!!!!!!
If some one would like to help me with the next clip it'd be alot of help! ^_^ Otherwise it won't be comming out for another 6 months!

*Walks off mumbling* I can't believe they make the princess do all of the work! J/k everyone did a lot of the work, Rashir and old Philosopher redid their lines a TON of times, and Myrrhlynn got the clip to me!

What is IV41? That's what QuickTime identifies as the codec. Maybe a combination of clip #1 and clip #3 or 4? MS ADPCM is playable in QT.

Psst! Just turn this into an MPEG file and all your problems go away!

How? VirtualDub only allows me to save it as a .avi file. If there is a program out there that will convert it (that is free!) I would be happy to.

And here's a page on encoders for making VCDs, which also have MPEG-1 on them (so the same type of encoder will work):

The only downside with MPEG-1 is that it takes *forever* to convert it. However, the files are smaller, look nice, and are playable just about everywhere.

The transitions are a little blocky, but that's probably a compression artifact.

It plays perfectly otherwise!

That *is* a shame that it shrunk the video down so much. Hmm. I'll try to find something for you that keeps it at 640x480. Perhaps there's a setting you can tweak?

I think I said like 20 times that these are scenes from the series Scrapped Princess which my sister and I are doing fandubs of. LOL :grin:

No I can't put more up cause my server space is screaming in agony as it is. :shady:

But since the show is still unlicensed you can use Bittorrent to download it (which is how I got it in the first place).

I have now idea why it does that. It even does that when I play the original .avi :shady:

I don't remember it doing that when i download so maybe I will try reinstalling it and see if that helps. And yeah I will see if I can change some setting so it doesn't shrink down to so tiny you can hardly see it. :lol:
