I'm just double checking but let me get this straight: there's the newly released tv series, the movie, and then 2 OVA DVDs correct? Let me know, as I am looking into getting into this at some point. I've seen the movie and loved it :-)

The OAV is comes in two volumes with 5 episodes all together (3 episodes in volume 1 and 2 in volume 2. The last episode I believe is 45 minutes long). Then there is the movie and now the 24 episode TV series. With all the material they have to work with I thought for sure there would be more than 1 season. However, I've not heard of a second season in the planning at this point.

For some extra fun you should also look into getting the Adventures of the Mini-Goddesses. There are 48 episodes, each running about 8 minutes in length. All 48 come in 4 volumes. Mini-Goddesses has been out long enough that you can find it usually in the Right Stuf International sales listings. I also saw volumes 3 and 4 at Big Lots for $3.99 each. It's really uber cute.

Although the "first season" DID have a best an ending as it possibly could, I really did think that the show would continue for some time, but now it doesn't look that possible... *shrugs* And I was really starting to enjoy it! Oh well, the manga's still going on... Heh always a new character to appear in there!

Gypsy reviewed the movie and I reviewed the OAVs and Mini-Goddess series, for those interested.

The manga is finally seeing a re-release in the unflipped format. It's definitely worth a look. Again, it's Dark Horse, so releases are erratic.

There's also supposedly a UMD of the movie coming out this winter.

The OAV DVDs generally go for about $10-$15 each if you know where to look.

AND a DTS version...

QUESTION:
Are UMDs really that good? I hear they can store lotsa stuff on them and are such a compact size! And being a "universal" disk they can paly on PSPs as well as regular DVD players, right?

Mes wanna pick um the Ah! Megami Sama movie in either form (whichever I find) due to it's cheaper price than the reg. ed.^^ THAT'S the time to pick them up!

I am not aware that UMDs can play on DVD players (PSP, yes). If there is some converter for them, great, but I don't think they can.

Honestly, I'd buy a UMD for my PSP and the DVD version of the same movie for home viewing. It's better to use the standard version for whatever hardware you're using.

The DTS version has nothing new, except for DTS. That doesn't help most people, though.

If you have a PSP and don't want the extras, go for the UMD. It's Belldandy-to-go.

So then what would be the proper "order" in which to view all of these things? I've seen the movie already, but what's the correct order to watch everything?

The OVA and TV series are alternate takes. So for those, it doesn't really matter which one you watch first. Although I'd suggest the OVA then TV, just because the OVA is more similar than the begining of the manga.

As for the movie... it's supposed to take place after the OVA, but well, I'd say watch it after the TV series (it would make more sense, with Banpei and everything in it already).

So... OVA, TV, Movie would be your best bet!

Sadly no, I was hopign for her though :/ Although LIND made an appearance before she did! Wait... or who did come first in the manga? I forget :/ But Peorth is for sure in the movie.

If your talking about the TV series it's already being released. Volume one came out at the end of September and volume 2 comes out on November 29th.

Just saw the first disc of the series!

Postby lj1958 » Fri Oct 14, 2005 7:26 am

I just finished watching the first disc of the series last night! Rented it from Blockbuster Online! It begins similarly to the OVA (but not completely the same), and has 5 half hour episodes.

I THINK...I liked the OVA bettter. But I'll likely keep watching the series.
