Don't have a car because I'm to young but I think when I get older I'll consider buying a Honda or Mitsubishi because the Japanese make really good vehicles.

It got 15 to 18 mpg (it didn't matter much about 3 years ago). And now I drive a 60 thunderbird (see profile) in good weather and a 91 ranger as a beater.
Also eriana mitsubishi untill 06, when the redisgned most of there engines, mitsubishi had some of the WORST motors you could get. They had almost no life and were heck to fix (i have worked on several of them....they are the worst car ever to work on due to the lack of space, poor design, and poor quality parts.) Honda on the other hand (though unoriginal styling) have very good motors and are very reliable cars.
desperado wrote:Seriously do not get a pre 05-06 honda! They completely redesigned a lot of there engines for a reason. Secondly whatever you do DONT put a big huge spoiler on the back of a front wheel drive car, for the love of all things automotive dont do it!
desperado wrote:A brand I would suggest since you like imports is mazda. The rotary is a very unique engine so it has some drawbacks (price for repairs and its not quite as long life as some 6 cylindars but its life is about the same as most 4 cylindars). But overall they are a very good brand.
Secondly you may want to consider this... a general rule on dependibility and easy of maintence. The 4 cylindars (especially the sporty ones) wear out very very quickly compared to other engines and cost more to fix when they do break down. V-6's are average in life and are the best for your average person (better life generally then the in line or slant 4 motors of today and are cheaper to fix). Thirdly most, MOST v-8s that are not beat upon last for a very very long time. The 350 falls under this never die policy.
This rule doesnt apply to everything but it is a good rule of thumb.
Secondly to clarify why i said no big spoilers on a front wheel drive. A spoiler puts downforce on the back, if the drive is not in the back but in the front and you put downforce in the back you are hurting handling gas mileage and power.
(and sorry i mistyped about the honda i ment mistsubishi)
