I don't know how much I miss the multiple incarnations of Toonami. They had a LOT of time to fill up and not a whole lot of shows to do it with. Doesn't anyone remember getting sick of seeing that episoded of DBZ AGAIN? Not that I think trading Outlaw Star and Tenshi for Zatch bell and Bobobo is a good deal, of course.

At least we have TT and JLU. Ironic, the best shows on toonami are now American, not anime. Quite a role reversal. I'm glad they took regular JL off, it was getting stale.
Don't think I've ever been able to sit through an episode of Zatch Bell. To tell the truth, all the spells and symbols make me uncomfortable.
But at least IGPX and Naruto should atone somewhat for that. Atone...reminds me of Kenshin. :shady:

Adult Swim does have some good shows like scry-ed, Inu Yasha, and Full Metal Alchemist. AS is not just crap shows like A T H F.

And NGE is coming next week or supposed to if they keep to the schedule. The only
night I don't watch AS is Sunday because that's when all of the crappy(with the
exception of Futurama)comedy shows air.And now they have that silly Sunday Pants.I try to stay up late Mon.-Wed.in order to watch Inuyasha,Fullmetal Alchemist and Paranoia Agent and Th. for Fullmetal Alchemist and s-CRY-ed.Fridays I usually
look forward to Gundam Seed and .hack//legend but they seem to have taken that
pleasure away by replacing the late night run with a repeat of FRIDAYS(and what
10 year old pray tell is up at that late hour?)In essence they've entirely taken away
Friday(with the exception of Naruto repeats)from anime.
As far as it goes when we first got Direct Tv you could still get Sailor Moon,Tenchi,
Outlaw Star,Candidate For Pilot,etc.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks the comedy shows stink.

But yeah, aside from Naruto and the aforementioned TT and JLU, I tend to watch Adult Swim instead of Toonami.

NGE is suposed to be on next week? I thought that wasn't being added to the schedule for another month or two. (not that I mind, of course)

Strangely enough, I can't help but like S-cry-ed. Even the protagonist doesn't get on my nerves as usual. And Straight Cougar is the absolute best.

Funny you should mention that. I really didn't like S-cry-ed at first, but it's been growing on me for a while.

But you know what I want to see on Toonami? Samurai Pizza Cats. It'd fit in pretty well between Duel Masters and Bobobo.

Hey, I like ATHF!!!

Back on topic, I don't mind Zatch Bell, really. It isn't my favorite, but I've seen far worse. But the rest of the line up... :shake: yeah.

Before Toonami aired Duelmasters, I had no idea anime did cartoons that were 30-minute commercials.

I miss Toonami, too.

Heck, I miss TV.

But seriously, Toonami was awesome, and it's what got me into anime. But I wouldn't fret--this is HARDLY the first time Toonami has waxed and wane...doesn't anyone remember when it was Saturday mornings only--Rising Sun style? When Adult Swim was simply more anime at night, and not necessarily unclean stuff only? I'm not too worried--and I think as popular as anime is now, we will see more networks putting it on TV to get the next generation of otaku hooked, too. XD

Yes, it'll probably come back, but when it does, it'll have next-gen anime and therefore will still have a major problem.

Perhaps this isj ust a lull in the activity. Even something very good will eventually get overlooked if it is seen too often. Toonami may very well cycle back into things. I'm worried though about the quality of the dubs and translations though. Please don't let them take their cues from Fox.

Naruto's not bad,One Piece is iffy,I really enjoy Zatch Bell.
btw:I was reading at either Ask John at AnimeNation or The Answerman at
Anime News Network, whichever it was they had a poster tell them how bad
the dub for Naruto was and they answered back that in all actuality they did
a very good job with the dub because that's the way NAruto is SUPPOSED to
be pronounced.

Ah yes, Toonami used to be my favorite block of TV programming... But now, I can't barely stand it. Sure, they nabbed Naruto and One Piece, but the voice acting is so bad on every show [IMHO] that I can't stand to watch it. I miss shows like Outlaw Star and Kenshin... Now all of the good shows go to Adult Swim instead, and Toonami is left with kiddie shows with atrocious VO's. [IMHO]

Well they added Dragonball Z uncut to the lineup now at 7:30.Unfortunatley that means Yu-gi-oh!GX is being replayed at the 10:30 Mon.-Th. time slot.

Man Family Guy, Aqua Teens, Space Ghost, and Sealab are pure genius! You guys need to lighten up you have to find at least one those shows funny.

Yeah I watched Toonami mainly back when it first started esque Thundercats, Voltron, Robotech, G-Force days, very old school. I enjoyed it around the Gundam and Tenchi period as well though.

Robotech was on Toonami?! When?

And I must say I normally enjoy Space Ghost and the Brak show. A friend and I are planning on renting the Brak dvds soon.

Realize that not all of us share the same sense of humor. For example I
find Ranma 1/2 and Tenchi hilarious(the manga that I've read plus the
Ranma 1/2 movie:Big Trouble In Nekronon China)also Dual!,the comedy
eps. of Inuyasha, parts of Crest/Banner of the Stars,FLCL,Magical Shopping
Arcade Abenobashi,etc.

Many, many, many years ago! It was showed when it wasn't even toonami at the time. It didn't last long anyway!

Wasn't Robotech the first major mecha series to air in America?

In early 1997. A little thing called Dragonball Z replaced it and it hasn't been on since, at least on CN.

It originally aired in 1985 and yes it was the first major mecha series in the US.

Actually they did show a few episodes of Robotech New Generation during their "Giant Robot Week" thing-a-ling. Ahhh, my first exposure to Nadesico and Eva... :brow:
