Leet speak is horrible (and a disgrace to grammar) and as a dyslexic I have to say Old English is horribly hard for me to concentrate on and find interesting (and not fun at all). As for me I'm glad books aren't written that way anymore.

well... I guess I could elaborate on it more...

Modern English:
You: Plural second person pronoun.
Your: Plural second person possessive pronoun.
You: Singular second person pronoun.
Your: Singular second person possessive pronoun.

Olde English:
You: Plural...
Your: Plural... possessive
Ye: Plural second person pronoun.
Thee: Singular second person pronoun
Thou: Singular second person pronoun.
Thy: Singular second person possessive pronoun.


now, this may not seem all that important, but when translating a section of scripture from english to virtually any other language, these things are crutial. In modern translations, there is lack of clairity in who is being addressed because of such things and thus translating from English from (let's chose one almost at random) NIV to (again random) Spanish would have a high possibility for many errors. But with old english, knowing these things takes all the guesswork out of translating and thus minimises the possibility for errors.

Common guys. We're sort of letting this thread deteriorate. Quabbling about l33t speek and old English isn't really the point.

Personally, I love a little old English, Shakespearean-style text every once and a while. But I'm a writer/actress who ENJOYS that kind of stuff. Many people can't understand it, despite how they try. Let's not criticise one another for a love of Old English or inability to understand it. The Spirit of God is strong enough to convict each concerning how God wants his word delivered to each individual. Who are we to contradict that?

If I knew Greek, I'd be studying that. But my mom's old KJV Bible (with a beautiful leather cover my grandfather hand-made for her) is my favorite. I come from a quasi-Catholic/traditional Protestant background, so many classical texts are astrewn throughout my house.

I use the KJV and I just really like reading it in that version for a number of reasons, which I won't mention here.

My maternal grandmother had an old French Bible.Then again she had several other
books such as The Three Musketeers also in French.I think it has to do with the
fact that her mother's family on her maternal grandfather's side were of French
descent mingled with some Anglo-Irish.

I've got a couple of NASBs, a KJV, a 1611 KJV, an NLT, an NIV, a GOD'S WORD, an RSV, a CEV New Testament, a KJV Gideon's NT, an NASB New Testament, and a Greek New Testament (UBS4/N-A 28).

I kind of collect them....
