check out last exile as previously mentioned, and there's also wolf's rain. I would say neither of these could be put into their own categories, as they're both very unique, intriguing, and masterfully done :-) If you want a good action anime, despite some rather prominent fanservice, check out Burst Angel (Bakaretsu Tenshi). Yeah, and I totally agree, FMA rocks! Also, if you want that I'd say fits into the "powerful" and "breathtaking" categories, check out RahXephon ;-)
