We have like six or seven Bibles in my house, but my favorite is my NIV Teen Study Bible. My other one is The Spiritual Information Bible. They're both great! But, then again, it is the Bible.

You DO realize we've had two threads on this exact same subject locked, right? I don't see this staying open long. It inevitably turns into an argument about "this version is the ultimate version and all others are inferior."

NIV, NKJV, KJV... and so on. like mine...

I have a bible for school (NAB i think) and a korean to english Bible (NIV)

but I mostly use http://www.biblegateway.org XD

I use the NAB. If I need to find a verse fast, I google part of the phrase and then look at the chapter/verse that comes up in my Bible.

Biblegateway is a site I have troube with when searching for a verse, thouugh I may be using it wrong.

Used to use NIV. Too disturbed by the number of verses removed from it (as well as the fact that the NIV itself says that it is flawed in the preface. I believe that God's Word is infallible, as Jesus says, and don't like to read from a version that claims to have screwed up.), I switched over to KJV and have been purring over the poeticness of it ever since.

Right now, I'm using an English Standard Version, very similiar to the NASB. It's the prettiest little Bible you ever saw.

The King James used to be called "The Authorised" Version, and to this day it is the Only One which claims to be the complete Inspired Word of God :3 I believe God is 100% without Error.

She's not debating, she's just saying why she uses that version. Don't think it's against the rules to state why someone uses a certain version over another. It's like saying that you like chocolate over vanillia and provide a reason (Support: "I'm alergic to vanilla bean"). Not against the rules to provide a diagnosis of one's preferences.

Meboeck is right: that sort of reply is arrogant, condescending, and doesn't do any good whatsoever. It's fine to state your opinion, but you don't have to go around making remarks like that which are just begging to be flamed. Either keep it friendly, or this thread will be locked too, and I'll start handing out strikes.

I use the Douay-Rheims Bible. NABs are a dime a dozen around here, and it's easy enough to find a Catholic RSV.

Is it against the law to say that I believe God's Word to be Inerrant? Without Error? God is Not Mocked, and he is Not the Author of Confusion. You shouldn't use a Bible you do not believe to be The Word of God. Otherwise it defeats the purpose of reading the bible in the first place. We know the character of God and how we are to live our lives by the Bible; therefore it is not an arbitrary thing. I said which one I use. And that I trust it, that's enough.

It may not be arbitrary, but it is specificly stated in the rules for the boards that this is not the place for theological arguments, which is what you are doing. Please don't get this thread closed over this.

No one's saying that you can't say the word of God is infalliable or any of what you just said. That's all true. It is wrong, however, (at least on these boards--I'm not going to engage in the theological principles at stake) to say that the KJV is the only infalliable version of the Bible. And that's what will get you strikes. I'm not saying this to provoke you further, but to clarify further since I think you missed the point Meboeck and I were trying to make.

My favorite part of reading The Bible is using the index. Next Bible I get will have to have a really good one because I'm always looking up things. I think that's a really useful tool when you're in need of guidance on a particular subject.

Though, I guess that's what concordances are for, ne?

I own the NIV, Zondervan study Bible. I feel that the footnotes are very interesting and informative. God's word is the focus, obviously, but the notes are a nice supplement and I enjoy getting info on the historical, societal, and religious context.

The Douay-Rheims has a few notes and such in it, but not much. I turn to the New Jerome Biblical Commentaries for notes.

I first started out with a Good News Bible (back from catechism days) then I got an NIV I used for a while and now I use my youth grad present, an NASB! I wuv translation notes^^ Helps me interpret and go "oooohh..." toa majority of the stuff".

Oxford annotated version of the NRSV. I really like the historical, contextual notes at the bottom of each page. This one also has the apochrypha in it, but I don't read that much.

I have the NIV and NASB. I perfer the NASB then the NIV....it is a harder Read then the NIV
