Nervous about college

Postby HwaRang777 » Sat Oct 01, 2005 4:03 pm

Hey guys. I'm really nervous about college next year, I'm in the process of writing applications, and I just got one back from Grand Valley State University (a local university in allendale, MI) generally saying that I'm not accepted. I'm really nervous, what if I have to go to CC, what if I can't go to college, what will I do. The thing is, while I looking at colleges, I felt that Purdue U. was actually going to be easier than GVSU for some odd gut feeling. I hope it's true. But I'm so nervous right now about my future. I really don't want to end up being on welfare or barely being able to pay my bills. I'm nervous, would you guys mind if you give me advice and/or prayers?

My best advice is don't be closed-minded about your future. I got accepted into all my top choices for four-year colleges, but now a year and a half later, I am working full time and looking into technical school. I never thought my life would turn this direction, and because of that, it has been a difficult journey. What you want to do isn't necessarily what you should do. Just keep praying and ask God what direction He wants you going in.

This is what I have to say.....trust in God and he will bring you though. He may not want you to go to college he might put you in a differnt college or put you in latter on in life. The one thing you sould not do is worry about your life....give that to God and he will do wonders for you. To be houest I did not know If I was going in to College and I worryed about it as well. untill I stoped worrying about it I got a letter saying that I am accepted and that I started as soon as I was done with the school I was in at that time. My parting words from me to you is...trust in God...don't worry about your life or fuchter...and just fallow God to the very end. I pray for you and have fun as well...Life is to short to worry about what you are going to do or live.

Like I said, getting into college isn't everything. I got in easily, but I quit after one term because it just wasn't right for you. If a door is closing for you, maybe it's to keep you from going the wrong way.

I fully and totally know where you are coming from!!!

Man when i was in HS and was worried about college.. all i knew to do was pray.

One of the biggest worries i still have is paying for school... but i came to the conclusion that if God wants you there He will make the way!!! I had to learn that sometimes the hard way and sometimes the easy....

You know going to a Community college and then transfering a after you got your gen eds isnt a bad idea either.

My advise, pray before each application is sent out. Pray over it. When i think of more... and i am totally sure i will... i will add to this forum :)

I will be praying for you.... remember "be anxious for nothing but through prayer and supplication things are accomplished" the Crystal Biblical Translation :)

I'm probably worried as much as you are, and I'm still a Junior. I'd do anything to get into Digipen Technical Institute, yet I know how dificult it'll probably be.

is it possible for a more difficult/higher ranking college pick you after you have been denied acceptance from a local, smaller, lesser known college?

Right now focus on finishing high school and figuring out how you're going to finance your higher education. If I knew then what I know now I would certainly have postponed going to school until I had earned enough money.Hindsight is nice, aint it?

I don't think you need to be so worried about not getting into a higher-end college. Many brilliant people have graduated from fairly unknown universities. People may be impressed if you graduated from Harvard (though perhaps not, given things as they are) but they won't think you're an idiot for attending a smaller college.

My advice is this: focus on getting the most out of any college that you may enroll in and then don't stress too much about the future. Pray, do what planning you can and then let it go.

I went to a CC and transferred aftwer thinking I would go to a big school al lfour years. You never know what God has in store and don't worry about it! CC is cheaper anyway and you can get all your gen eds done nice, easy, cheap ^^

The most important thing is not to worry. The second most important thing is to have a plan B.

It is quite possible to be happy and fulfilled (and even financially independent) without going to a 4-year institution. College is not the sole means to a high salary, but if your choice of career is largely scholarly or academic, it may be your only way. If college doesn't work out for you, try attending a vocational school and learning skills.

And remember--college should be treated as a learning experience, not a rite-of-passage.
Job 7:16

I loathe my life; I would not live forever. Let me alone, for my days are but a breath.
