Why do you blog?

Talk about anything in here.

I blog for the following reasons:

1) To let my family and close buddies know that I'm still alive somewhere on this planet and am still capable of doing things (i.e. I'm not paralyzed, in prison or sold to some slave traders)
2) To express myself in a relatively healthy fashion (seems like a better option than smashing something - oh yes, I do lose my temper ever now and then). Of course, it's a good outlet to share good feelings and goodnessknowwhatotheremotions
3) To practice writing - Silly as it sounds, it forces me to write, an activity I don't really like to do. I dislike writing the traditional way even more, so typing seems like a good compromise

So, no, blogs are not pointless to me. It's relatively better than surfing the Net for porn or some worse Internet activity.

Anyway, all in all, I doubt anyone is obligated to entertain the rest of the world with their blogs. Neither am I obligated to visit/comment anyone's blogs. Ppl can have their own standards of "good blogging" as long as they don't try to enforce them on the rest of the world with some silly arrogant attitude. There are more pressing issues in life than boring/mediocre blogs. Heh.

Happy Blogging. :)

I found alot of peeps with Xanga and tried it. I've done it maybe four times (and the last time and wound up doing a bit of yelling fit against liberal views...).

I have to disagree with that idea. While I don't blog, I do journal extensively, and my reasons for doing so are purely self-centered; I would be rather horrified if someone else were to read my journals.

Aside from the basic reason of self-expression, which several people have already mentioned, one major reason I journal is to clarify my thought process; I find it very helpful simply to get ideas onto paper. One of my main ways of processing information is by writing it; this is simply how I function.

Finally, there is this reason, as expressed by Isabel Colgate: "It is not a bad idea to get in the habit of writing down one's thoughts. It saves one having to bother anyone else with them. "
Let others believe in the God who brings men to trial and judges them. I shall cling to the God who resurrects the dead.
