Postby Tenshi no Ai » Thu Sep 29, 2005 7:08 pm

So it was onyl yesterday when I went outside and the extreme weather change hit >_< Day before that is was warm and sunny, but turned into the regular wind and rain this we(s)t coast is used to getting!

So I smelled the air and it has that wintery smell to it... any relate to me with that? Then I thought of all the pros and cons winter has...

pro: reminds me of my first, and ONLY b/f (I sound like Mako! >_<) in our winter relationship^^
con: soon when witner ended, so did us being together v_v

pro: snow days!! my high school like only ever had ONE and I think my college gets them too...
con: ...I have to walk in at least some of it to college... even if I transfer buses... well, me and ice just reaaaally don't get along >_<! And it makes you wet and so forth...

pro: Christmas is coming!!!
con: money is going... (on most cases)

pro: Jesus was born... well, sometime around then :/
con: ................

WHOO!! CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YAAAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!

We do are finals for 1st term the beginning of December, SWEET!! No more worrying about finals over one of the best seasons of the year for this University student!

WHOOO!!! \*O*/

I love the winter...the brisk smell of the ice cold air, the lovely feel of moisture all around you, the breathtaking sights of everything covered in White, one of my most favorite colors, and best of all the sounds of winter.

Nature is so quiet, condense, and so peaceful over fresh fallen snow and the snowflakes that fall that show it's real beauty.

The songs of Christmas that bring a tear to my eye like "The Star Carol", "The First Noel", and "O Come, All Ye Faithful" especially when all of them are played by a string orchestra.

Christmas to me brings the truth and the meaning of Christ the most along with another. Such a beautiful and wonderous time.

I love drinking a cup of my Mom's home made cider, in my Grandma's knittin wool sweater, laying down on the couch listening to old Christmas classics in a beautifying decorated house.

Winter must come...

We will all go together...

Cephas, you are my kind of guy. ^_^

I love winter. On my campus it's really nice. All the conifers are covered in snow like powdered sugar, the decidous trees lightly frosted with all their red berries (if they have them) showing. All the cardinals and sparrows are fearless, and the mockingbirds are downright aggrressive, so they are plainly visible in the trees. Everything is covered in snow, nice clean snow. White snow, black light poles, green conifers and red brick, I love it. And the campus is decorated with white Christmas lights and red bows everywhere. And I love sunshine on snow! I have seen falling snow with sunshine on it against a blue sky while I was under the magnolia. Very pretty. And it's quiet because people don't talk much because they are focusing on getting to class. And there is a fire place in the Christian Center that we huddle around. And hot chocolate and hot tea are so much better in the winter. This year, the ministry group is going to try to put on a Christmas play on campus. YAY!

Guess I forgot to mention our south desert/tropical friends, who'll probably have either a palm tree of a cactus for their tree :/

Actually our winter's here have bombed lately >_< Thanks to global warming, our snow doesn't actually stick here for very long. So instead of pretty white fluff, we get dry cold weather with, lots of rain and many "trying to snow" cases, where it ends up just being slush :/

Here in SC it gets cold, but we don't get much snow.... So I'm dreaming of a brown Christmas!

Anyway, I love winter. I actually enjoy the cold. It's probably because it gets so hot around here usually, it's just nice to be able to put on a big coat without fear of overheating and passing out...

I can't wait for winter break. Mine'll be longer this year now that I'm in college, and I'll be glad to take that time off!

The weather change has hit Texas as well. As usual, it's still humid, and heaven forbid it actually will ever snow down here (last year in Houston was the exception) but it FINALLY feels nice, considering that the past few days it has been 20 degrees above normal and literally unbearably hot.

Winter; particularily December; is my absolute favorite time of the year. For one; Christmas. Two; my Birthday is in December. <-----The negative side of this is that people like to get away with getting you only one gift for both occasions. And three; we southern Texans get a break from the insane level of heat.

December, though, is usually when I get my second annual worst case of lovesickness. (The first is Valentine's day) :( But at least the Christmas spirit tends to cancel it out most of the time.

Ah, I love winter. But it's more like pseudo-fall here right now. And by "pseudo", I mean it's still about 79 degrees outside and the leaves are brown from the intense heat and lack of water rather than the change of seasons.

Guh. I want a real fall and winter this year, instead of it being hot until mid-December and then getting hot again after New Year's. And it had better not be 50 degrees at Christmas this year...

I don't know, I just like winter. Winter mornings are the best. Crisp, fresh-smelling air, clear skies. And there's nothing better than sitting down with a book, a blanket, and a steaming mug of tea.

Also, I deal a lot better with extreme cold than heat. 'Cuz if it's 20 degrees outside, you can layer on more clothes and bundle up. If it's 120 degrees outside, well, you'd better have central air and a lot of money to pay electric bills with.

Yup, another brutal Southern California winter. We might get into the 50s. :grin:

Actually, it snowed here last year. I remember my thermometer said 36 F and it had snowed not 15 minutes drive away. Melted within 24 hours, though. :(

I live in Colorado, so an upside to that is that when it snows it's really heavy and wet and packs together well. I love winter. It's my favorite time of year because I love the feeling of Winter. The air is almost like peppermint and everything is cold and snowy. Colorado doesn't have many ups but its snowfall and hocket team are a huge plus. I love the Colorado Avalanche! ^_^

YESSSSSS!! WIIINTEEERR!!! Break out the snow stuff wheee~

I'm getting a new snowboard this year ^^ Sadly there's like... NO mountains in Ohio. We have these little "mountain" hills where you can snowboard, but they suck. It takes longer to ride up the chair lift than it does to sowboard down. >:\ But you find ways to amuse yourselves. And you get REALLY used to riding in icy/gravel-like conditions XD But no matter! We can drive up to vermont and go snowboarding there. YAAAY Straton and Okemo! .__. I wanna go out west to Vale and Aspen and places though T^T

The strangest thing happens in Columbus though... its like we have this giant snow-repelling bubble around the city. Every freaking county around us will get tons of snow and we'll get like... a dusting or something. People up by Lake Erie are lucky =_= They get lots of snow from the lake effect. Then again, they're all so used to it up there that they don't have to close schools or anything. My grandma used to live in Georgia and if they ever got a dusting of snow they would close school. XD Or maybe that's a hyperbole.

So... yeah. Curse you flat, snow-deprived Columbus!!

pro: Jesus was born... well, sometime around then :/

Just thought I'd rain on your parade and mention that Christmas is on Dec. 25 b/c they wanted to have all the celebrations in one month (or something like that). Jesus was probably born sometime in the spring... HOWEVER! That's not what's important, is it? What's important is recognizing Jesus' birth.

Haha

Yes....WINTER! The king of all seasons. Say goodbye to summer! Goodbye to the summer heat, bugs, boring afternoons, mowing, and late days!! Bwahaha!!

I love winter. Winter is seriously awesome. Cause you have snow, cider, fires in the fireplace, Christmas, cold weather, and silence. Nothing is better then bundling up in warm clothes and go out for a walk late at night while it's snowing. Seriously, you can hear nothing and the sky (wear I live) has a darkish red glow to it...it's awesome!

Fall has just barely started around my place, and I am majorly excited. Fall is my absolute favorite season ever. The leaves, the crispness, the smells, the food, the clothes, everything.

And my college totally doesn't get snow days, so winter pretty much just means being cold and looking at brown things for three or so months.

I do love taking walks in the dusk of fall though. Or sitting on a driveway and talking. It is goodness.

And Christmas totally sucked for my family last year, so I'm a bit apprehensive.

Slush just makes everything worse.

Winter=sweaters.
Sweaters=very good.

Therefore, by substitution of equals, winter=very good. :D
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I just want to quit wearing my summer clothes. I am SOOOOO sick of them!!! It's been a long summer, so I desperately long for a change of pace. There's something kind of monotonous about life whenever you wake up every morning and wear the same clothes all the time, and the weather is always the same (hot). . . I like the freshness of cool weather, the change of scenery ya know? And being able to wear different stuff. I don't know if anybody else cares about this (probably not, lol) but there's something I enjoy about it.

Then there's CHRISTMAS. I LOVE Christmas. My whole family gets together and it's so much fun, plus this year I get to see my cousins baby for the first time, so I'm excited! Winter rocks.
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

I'm just going to enjoy Fall while it lasts. Christmas is great, it is my favorite holiday. And if Winter ended right after Christmas, I think maybe I could even get to like it (Winter). But...it doesn't. It drags on...and on...

Winter pros: Christmas and all the things that go along with it. Basketball. My family's trip to the FL Keys to get away from Winter on New Year's. When it ends.

Winter cons: Cold. Snow. Leafless trees. Grey skies. Monochrome color scheme. Length. Driving conditions. Seasonal low-level depression. Shorter days. Longer nights. Difficulty exercising outside. Cold car in the morning. Ice. Slush. Barren ground.

Wish I could leave Winter with the Winter lovers and extend Fall and Spring for me. I try to appreciate all God's seasons for what they are, but Winter makes it tough.

It can hit 40 below here, just with the wind chill. The temp might be, say 25 below. But if you figure in the windchill....its well below that. A lot of peoples car starters buy the farm the first real cold night. Such as me, when I first started at my job. Went out to my car around midnight...to hear it click. Last winter was actaully pretty nice compared to others...so we will probably have a nasty one this year.
