I tried watching the episode on last night, just to see what it was like and got through the song and about one minute of the actual episode. >.< MY POOR SANJI!! WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO HIS VOICE?! *bang bang bang* I've only read the first 7 volumes of the manga, but still... UGH.

I found the tune of the theme rather catchy but the lyrics were so stupid I was shaking my head in shame by the end of it. If any of my siblings came in while I was watching that I think they'd make fun of me XD;; And I'm the oldest.

and maybe they joined the 4kids forum because they like one of the other shows 4kids does.

Overall I think that Nami is still the only character that has a decent voice on the
dub although Zoro comes close.Luffy sounds like a complete dork and Ussop
like he's hyserical even when he's not.Sanji just sounds like he's from Brooklyn.
I don't know why he sounds like he's from Brooklyn,I suppose people think that
a Brooklyn accent makes him sound a bit tougher.

Don't worry. *pats her on the back* I feel that way, too )and I've read up to Chapter 380 -_- ).

a Brooklyn accent makes him sound a bit tougher.

Occasionally Nami's is good. Sometimes is sounds kinda wierd to me (ducks blow from MLover).

Zoro's is alright, but it kinda sounds too old to me (he's suppose to 19 and it sounds like he's in his mid-30s).

Luffy's, yeah, it's pretty... wierd, but so is Luffy, so it fits about half the time. The other half it just hurts to hear him.

I keep saying, Sanji should have had a French accent (especially since his attacks are suppose to be in French). It might not make him seem tougher (or maybe it would), but it would have been better, and thanks to 4Kids, and I can never imagine his voice correctly in the mangas (NOOO!!!!). Actually, a Brooklyn-ish accent may have worked had it been good, but it sounds like someone trying to be Brooklyn when they're obviously not. And yes, it's hard to imagine someone is tough who goes around with suckers in his mouth instead of cigarettes (though I have nothing against suckers *grabs a Tootsie Pop*).

Let's avoid ever talking about Usopp.

I would have thought they could do no worse than Usopp's, then I heard Robin. WHAT THE CRAP?!?! It's like they took one look at her hat and went "Country accent" (bad country accent). I never imagined her to sound that way. And from my "research" I have concluded that a better accent would have either been just some slightly serious (but happy) voice or, get this, Hispanic. O_o
I kid you not.

Chopper's I actually found kinda decent (though we haven't heard enough of it yet to really know). Plus, I finally know how his voice sounds in the original and it wasn't too far off, really.

*twitches* One Piece dub...... was just wrong.

Zoro and Nami's voices were fine, but it took me a while to get used to Luffy's. And then there was Usopp. By the time I was over that Sanji came in.

4Kids just hit rock bottom, here. I am in love with the manga, but I find myself almost bored with the dubbed show. They cut out EVERYTHING!!

Zolo (I`m sorry IMO Zolo fits him better) is 19?! He looks and sounds mid to late 20s.

Luffy`s fits him fine.

Usop`s fits him fine. I HATE Usop.

Sanji sounds kinda cool. It`s funny how the shape of the eyebrows is enough to make me like a character A LOT less. His voice as a child was hilarious.

Nami`s fits her fine.

Can someone explain to me how a character whose first name is Monkey be in a show directed towards older audiences with inappropriate content?

Did anyone catch that pun in my last post and thought it was funny?

Zoro and Nami sound more or less pretty good. They are experienced voice actors. And the parts aren't really that hard to pull off anyway.

Giving Nico Robin an accent made me wince. That's probably going to be grating once she becomes a major character.

I really can't stand the fact that they cut out entire arcs. Cutting out Little Garden is going to lead to some plot holes in Alabasta...

At any rate, I wonder how they are going to treat Mr. 2?

Mr. 2... show me a screenshot. Whose Nico? Another screenshot please.

Can some One piece guru answer this question that me and my friend were wondering. yes or no and make sure in spoiler tags.

Is Gold Roger`s ghost the last villian in the series? If not, is he in the series at all?

I heard on 4KidsTv, they are at the Grand Line... Saturday Mornings early.

Ok, sorry for doubleposting but anyways......

You do realize 4kids makes the shows for little kids and um not you guys, right? Littlek ids don`t hate shows for voice effects and don`t critisize theme songs or story arcs being cut out. 4kids may ruin shows in your opinion, but they`re real objection is to take great anime and make it watchable for small audiences. At least that`s wht i see from my point of view.

They should send the original version to America as well though.

Zolo (I`m sorry IMO Zolo fits him better) is 19?! He looks and sounds mid to late 20s.

Call him that if you want, but his name is spelled out in romaiji as "ZORO"!!!
But yes, he is 19.

Luffy`s fits him fine.

Kinda, since he's wierd.

Usop`s fits him fine. I HATE Usop.

That's the problem. They're pretty much making you hate him, which is sad as he gets to be a pretty interesting character later on (Sogeking!!).

Sanji sounds kinda cool. It`s funny how the shape of the eyebrows is enough to make me like a character A LOT less. His voice as a child was hilarious.

Kinda. At first. But just how incredible he is is really put down by his voice, trust me.

Can someone explain to me how a character whose first name is Monkey be in a show directed towards older audiences with inappropriate content?

It's a freakin' comedy show. Plus, he's a complete idiot. As for inappropriate content:
As with many anime, the original had alot of language (though I believe it was mostly at the beginning for this one). There's also alot of blood. Like buckets.

I know in the manga there are two suggestions at "boob" shots, both having to do with Nami. The first in a bath scene where she flashes these guys to get them to leave, but nothing is shown. The second is when Mr. 2 turns into Nami to beat Sanji and says something about it "being hot and needing to take my clothes off", but it's just a joke and he doesn't actually do anything.
Mr. 2... show me a screenshot. Whose Nico? Another screenshot please.

Arlongpark.com has pics of everybody. Mr. 2:
...is an okama (gay person) in the manga and just a ballerina in the anime. His real name is Bon Clay (2 is his rank in the Baroque Works) and he has the Mane Mane Fruit, letting him change his body to look like anyone.
Is Gold Roger`s ghost the last villian in the series? If not, is he in the series at all?

Probably not, but the series hasn't ended in Japan yet.
I actually think it'll be Shanks. PM me if you wanna know why.
I heard on 4KidsTv, they are at the Grand Line... Saturday Mornings early.

Yes, but they skipped one of the islands they were suppose to be on. Grr...

You do realize 4kids makes the shows for little kids and um not you guys, right? IT. IS. NOT. NOR. EVER. WAS. A. KIDS. SHOW.

I'm thankful for them letting me know what it is, but they honestly ruined it. The odds of us getting the uncut know are as much as them showing the uncut on 4Kids.

Didn't the creator work for the creator of Ravemaster?
I think if you look at the two of them close together the art work is rather similiar.

No, but Oda(OP), Mashima(Rave), and Takei(Shaman King) were all assistants of Watsuki(Kenshin) for awhile which would probably explain some art similarities.

I just listened to the Straw Hat version of "We Are" (the first intro to the original OP), and it's sung by the voice actors of the Straw Hats.

Everyone's voices sound a hundred times better. Everyones. Sanji's actually fits, and Usopp's voice *gasp* isn't painstankling irritating! It actually makes him sound relatively cool! O.O

And, oddly enough, the original Luffy VA sounds kinda like the dub version, just... I dunno, older, I guess. .__.

Actually, Bon Clay isn't his "real" name. Bon Clay is a reference to a Japanese buddhist holiday called Bon Kure. That fits in with all of the female Baroque Works officer agents being named after holidays. Since he is the only agent that isn't in a pair, he gets named after both a number and a holiday.

I just listened to the Straw Hat version of "We Are" (the first intro to the original OP), and it's sung by the voice actors of the Straw Hats.

Hmmm, I haven't listened to that. I have seen all of the openings and most of the endings however.

It's not that much of a change. The R and L are interchangeable. You can use either one without changing the pronounciation.

I think what myoti meant was that the name was spelled out in english characters (romanji) within the Japanese manga as Zoro.... So the author made it clear that Zoro was the correct way to pronounce it in English. Correct me if I'm wrong Myoti ^^

Maybe so, but the pronounciation doesn't change whether you spell it Zoro or Zolo.

That's my point.

Though I do recall alot of people calling him by both names, which sounded wierd. ("Mr. 2 Bon Clay!")

Hmmm, I haven't listened to that. I have seen all of the openings and most of the endings however.

Have you heard the special ending "Family"? It's like that, with all the VAs, but they're singing "We Are". They're actually pretty good.

I really hope you don't call yourself an otaku.

"Otaku" is a derogatory term in Japan.

No, I do not nor ever have. I know what it means.

I think what myoti meant was that the name was spelled out in english characters (romanji) within the Japanese manga as Zoro.... So the author made it clear that Zoro was the correct way to pronounce it in English. Correct me if I'm wrong Myoti ^^

Pretty much. In katakana, Luffy's name is actually "Monki D. Rufi" and Zoro's is just Zoro. Because of this some of people claim it's either way. It's not.
On on of the endings (Help me, MasterDias, I can't remember which), it shows the Straw Hats and they're name floats across in Romaiji. Luffy's is clearly spelled as "Luffy" and when Zoro's comes, it's cleary spelled out as "ZORO". Oda had a reason for him calling him that, and that's his name. Sometimes they're interchangable, yes. This is not one of the times.

Maybe so, but the pronounciation doesn't change whether you spell it Zoro or Zolo.

That's my point.

Not trying to be rude, but that 's untrue.

If someone's name is "Ricky" and switch the letters, it ends up as "Licky". It's a completely different pronounciation, just with the same ending sound.

Yeah, Tom and beau are right, Myoti. It really doesn't matter whether you say Zoro or Zolo.

Anyway, so Tom, I see you'le flom the home of the gleatest basebarr team. Man, gotta rove that basebarr. I lemembel once when I was a kid, I went to a basebar game with my fliends Blian and Rinda. It was so frippin' awesome!

Oh wait. I guess peopre's names are sperred how they ale fol a leason.

Yeah, it's pretty rude to call someone the wrong name on purpose. Especially if they say, "This is how my name is supposed to be said," and you still purposely pronounce it wrong because "I like it better this way," then it's purposely being rude, and the only reason I can see to do it would be if you really disliked the person. Since I don't dislike Zoro, I'll call him by his name.

Because I'd want someone to show me the same courtesy.

Gee since when did the Cubs move to Massachussetts?LOL!!!:)

Seriously though,I think that the difference is that the Japanese have a hard time
pronouncing either the R or L sound,I think it's the R so for instance on Inuyasha
instead of saying KiRaRa it comes out KiLaLa.Which is probably also why
even though it's ZoRo it comes out as ZoLo.

I`m going to a Red sox game tomarrow coincidentally. They`re versing the Yankees.

How about I can call him what I choose to call him? How about I call him what Americans that like the show are meant to call him. Gee, I bet Zoro is really insulted by us changing his name, due to the fact he`s a fictional character and all.

Utter, utter crap.

Zoro ( oh EXCUSE ME! It's ZOOOLOOO now >>;; ) doesn't have a horrible voice.

Everyone else is absolutely terrible, especially Luffy.

And come on, changing a cig to a sucker, removing all of the guns and blood, changing the theme song to some idiotic rap that is probably recorded by a white dude trying to be the new Vanilla Ice, only worse... terrible, man.

I have seen a few of the original One Piece episodes, fansubbed. They were fantastic and I was really looking forward to the show being fully released over here. And the music from the original series has a full orchestra, as well as excellent OP & ED themes. This dub is garbage.

Thanks for nothing, 4Losers.

Yeah, I've heard Family. And by this post, I've also listened to the "We Are- Straw Hats" version. I couldn't get all of the voices straight but I'll just assume that the lowest sounding one was Zoro and the strangest sounding one was either Usopp or Chopper.
