Lol, it really is funny. My parents are pestering me to find someone to take to the homecoming dance. ME! Seriously, heh. That's funny. I mean, I see no problem with it, since I have some uncanny ability to keep from becoming too close to someone in a relationship, but who would tolerate me? Lol. My friends all laughed at this, and so did I. I doubt it's funny to all of you, but you'd have to know me to understand.

Do you want to go?

I always went stag (single) to all my high school dances, and had a blast. I even went stag to prom, and it was awesome. We had glowsticks and bubbles and chopsticks.

Is it a bigger deal for a guy to go stag than a girl?

hahaha I never went with people to dances. I'd be the life of the party! Or so I was told.... (ya right)

But my parents do the same. They really really really want me to find a girlfriend, but I really have no desire to.

Well the worse case scenario would be having to take your sister,if you have one,or a cousin.

Yikes. O.O
I might rather want to go alone. ^^;;;
I've never been to dances but sometimes I wonder what it would be like.
Since I'm so young I've never had a boyfriend obviously, but just going by myself or maybe with a couple of my girl friends would be fine. I for some reason have a hard time adapting to boys usually, probably because of past issues. ^^;;;

I dunno. I'm just not that well liked. Some people have told me I'm too moody.

i guess it is a matter of opinion.... i went to all my dances since 6th grade and even went back to HS when i was a freshman in college to dance. The difference is, i didnt slow dance till prom. WHat you got to do is learn to ball room and you will be the "Man". I remember when a guy learned to dance the right way, all the girls took turns dancing with him. So, it is how you do it rather than not doing it at all. And who says you have to dance immorally, i never have and i had a blast.. i even went to prom with two guys just to have a swing,salsa, cha cha dance off. Its just how you approach it. One day you will really feel like you missed something if you dont participate in some school activities. IE prom.

True. I'd just like my parents to get off my back, meh...I have more important things to worry about. Like martial arts.

I made my friend swingdance with my during the slowest, sappiest song they played. And I walked around blowing bubbles during all the slow dances.

I've always had a blast at dances, as long as I made my own fun. Glow sticks!

My senior prom was a lot of fun. The music wasn't too great, so my friends and boyfriend and I all sat around a table throwing confetti at each other and playing volleyball with the balloons. We'd also purposely pop balloons on the dance floor to scare other dancers.

I also had fun dancing with my dad for the parent/child dance. He has this two-step move that goes one speed, no matter how fast or slow the actual dance is (he can dance very well for other dance types though) XDXD

Really, hanging out with your friends is the most fun part of the dance. I already had a boyfriend, so didn't have to worry about a date. The great thing was that we were from the same group of friends, so we could all hang out together.

If your parents are really worried about you getting a date, just ask a girl from your group of friends, since you would end up hanging out with her and your other friends anyway. Or just go stag. *shrug* You don't have to participate in the dirty dancing or drinking or other bad stuff. The important thing is just to go and have your kind of fun, date or no date. I know my mom still regrets never having gone to any dances in middle or high school.

Dances, meh. I never cared enough to go, especially since people were never well behaved. However, I did go to homecoming my senior year because our exchange student wanted to go and thought it was wrong to go without me. She was so excited to do this thing she had always read about in American books and seen in American movies. Did the prom thing in my $25 dress and flea market jewlery from my grandma. Went for the same reason as homecoming, and scared up a date who also didn't want to go but whose Mom threatened to not let him walk through the graduation line if he didn't find a date. It was pretty boring the whole thing. The most memorable moment was when I accidently drug my umbrella through another girls hair. ^^;;
