Ditto. I know about the horrendous ending, though, at least in part.

My 12 year old daughter has been watching this series (we've been renting through Blockbuster Online). Any content issues with that last DVD that I should be aware of?

I'm a little surprised your 12 year old daughter is watching this. It was hard for this 32 year old man to understand what was going on. But, perhaps, a 12 year old's perspective is just different enough...

Anyway, the action and violence in the final DVD is roughly on the same level as the rest of the series, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Feel free to PM me, snowangel. Or we can have the discussion here in spoiler boxes. Your choice.

Kisa,
I enjoyed the first 2/3rds of the series, but I have a hard time recommending it. Hiyono (female lead - easily the funniest and most clever character of the series) was the best part of the series for me, but her part was greatly reduced toward the end of the series.
The show has no ending. It's a mystery series whose premise is all about the people called Blade Children. The Blade Children are a mysterious and cursed group of people who are hunted because of what they are. The series, however, never tells you what the Blade Children are, why they are cursed, or why they are hunted. It's the single most disappointing ending to a series I have ever experienced. And that says a lot since I have seen both Escaflowne and Gasaraki.
I'd be happy to discuss it also. Although I watched it a while back, I remember myself going kind of like "Huh..?" near the end, I was entirely lost. I didn't really get what was going on at the end, and the ending really surprised me, not to mention confused me.

You're welcome. I'd hate for you to have an ending like that hit you by surprise.

oh....read the spoiler and ...ok. The 12 yo likely won't LIKE it but it won't be a big deal. This sort of thing drives her 16 yo sister crazy (shoulda heard her at the end of Witch Hunter Robin, she was going nuts!).

Humm well I wasn't all that found of the ending myself but that doesn't mean I can't recommend the show. Fruits Basket has a similar ending, so if you didn't like how that ended then you won't like how this ended. It's because the manga is still going on so they didn't want to just make up a ending for it. Actually I can think of lot's of animes that end and pretty much leave you hanging... I just went and read some information sites for Spiral about the series and then it made a whole lot more sense to me. Personally I recommend the series, since it is one of the cleanest (well except for some violence) I've ever seen. No bath scenes!

Since I'm sure everyone is going to want to know the sites I looked at here is the best one I found: http://clynefaction.net/BureChiru/Main.php It's on hiatus right now, but most of the info is still up and it is still the best information site I've found.
