I am very frustrated. I am very Depressed. You guys aren't supporting me, or helping me with this... you are making this worse, and harder for me, as The choice is no longer in my hands, but in the hands of my parents.

I realised that you were frusterated. I did not realise that you were depressed. first off let me say that by all the things I have been saying I have been attempting to help you to get a different perspective on the matter. In no way do I want you to feel bad about yourself. I stand by what I have already said, but I wish to emphasis that in no way do I want to put you down. I simply want to help you see things from my view.

I hope this all works out for you. I will pray for you.

Thank you. I do need prayer. A lot of it.

I think i should have explained, that i DO understand where you guys are coming from, and i do understand your points of view. I have had that small part last year, and i think God wanted to teach me humility. I did learn that last year. But there are times for everything: Times to be humble, and times to stick up for yourself.

I really fel bad... and i do not, by any means, want to hurt the other actors by not being in the play... but really i have no say in this now... it is out of my hands.

If you guys could just pray for me... that would be awsome! :thumb: Thank you all for your advice, and your comments... I know what you guys were trying to do: to get me to see the other side. I do see, I do understand... but i am still frustrated and in the dumps.

Being busy can do that to ya. Just stick to it, and follow though with as many commitments as you can, and politely back out of those that you cannot. It happens. Good luck with your busy times.

Is it at all possible that she gave you a small part because she didn't think your schedule could handle it but she still wanted you in the play?

Just a thought...

Well, without giving any advice either way on what you should do, Links, I will say that I sympathize with how frustrating it must be. You were told one thing and then got something entirely different.

Lied to? I dunno. But definitely not something I would like happening to me. Got to be disappointing. And it's not really fair either.

So here's a friendly punch in the arm for you <punch>. Hope everything turns out for the best in the end.

I've just skimmed this thread and I just want to briefly respond. Firs of all I am an actor (working toward a professional career) and if you are serrious about acting you need to take the "small" roles with the big ones. Stanislavski once said "there are no small roles, just small actors." Every role you accept gives you experience and an opportunity to learn and improve your craft.
If this is just something you are doing for fun than I don't understand what the problem is. Being a part of the cast is fun and you should just have fun with it.
Time is time...if you don't have time for a small role you don't have time for a big one.
Finally, if you made a commitment to accept a role, you have a responsibility to follow through. And remember, that everything we do we are supposed to do for the glory of God. Consider this; are you angry about the small role because you are seeking glory for the wrong reasons? (Not an accusation just a sincere thought)

After speaking with my thespian brother, my opinion changed slightly. I think I've learned a thing or two. I can understand wanting to play a particular role. Like you said, you are busy, and you may not be motivated to play a different role, meaning your performance will suffer.

As long as you were up front about that in the beginning (and it sounds like your were) and you didn't agree to accept a different role, I would think it would be OK for you to back out as long as you can do so with out hard feelings.

At any rate, for what it's worth, I support any decsion you make. I hope this episode doesn't sour you on the theatrical arts. Not getting the part you want will happen to you a lot in life.
