You find that you have a weapon, an instrument that
will give you power over the wind and sea.
In one word, you can stop time. It is a weapon
so powerful that even God will bow
down to you and all his angels fall at your feet.
What would you do with it?

Accents are usually fine, there's only a few that annoy me because they sound like a sick horse or dying cat. Some languages can be beautiful when spoken Fluently without knowing a whole lot about a language and then trying to speak it can come out very odd. I used to speak Spanish for a little while but now have stopped and moved onto Japanese. I'll stick with this I think.

In Australia, we just think our accents are "neutral" or "accentless" if you know what I mean....

Does everyone else think their accent sounds just "neutral"??

I'm told that I speak with an accent, but I can only discern it intermittently. It seems to change, though it's most often (by a plurality) been described to me as "Russian" - which is slightly odd.

I can definitely hear my accent in Greek - I pronounce it with a significant Gaelic accent, for whatever reason. Heavier than I've noticed in my English.

As for in other people, I'd have to say that I'm kind of picky - I like some English accents, but not others, some French accents, but not others, some Russian accents, but not others... you get the picture.

Could it possibly be that you guys are all attracted to an accent which is outside of your native one and or is some place you'd love to visit or have a special affection for??

"Is accent attractive." "Is accent attractive?"

IMNSHO, no. I am more attracted to the face. Accent, for me, can be potentiall UNattractive--I can't find myself in a meaningful relationship with a woman who sounds like Barney Gumble.

I live in the Pacific Northwest but because I spent my early years in Minnesota
I have been told I have a Midwestern/Northern accent so as regards that I
live outside of my native accent to begin with!:)
As far as Southern accents go,with me I think it's a bit genetic considering my
paternal grandfather was from Virginia and I have always been proud of my
Southern roots even though I have never lived there.

If that was a response to me, then a Kiwi accent is a New Zealand accent... And, yes, there is a difference between Aussie and Kiwi accents...

Aussie doesn't do it for me, but Kiwi accents...

Also, you can't really describe an accent... Kiwi and Aussie accents are close.

I don't really like accents of non-native speakers, actually... So Mexican, German, Danish, Sweedish, Norwegian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese... Not really attractive... Of course, accents are a minor issue either way.

Hmmm. I suppose that I would say British. Or I should say the more refined British. In general, a well-spoken woman is something which I find attractive.

A light Scottish/Irish can be attractive as well.

I also know a Basque woman and if her accent is representative of her people, then it is also quite attractive.

How about southern accents? (Assuming you are from the US) Funny thing- some folks say I have one, and others say I don't. I really love an Irish or British accent, personally- and my Geometry teacher has an awesome New Zealand accent.

I have been told I sound like I'm from either:
*New York State
*Pennsylvania
*Ohio
*somewhere in the Upper Midwest
I never met my paternal grandfather as he died a year before I was born so I don't know what kind of accent he had since he was a born and bred Virginian.

I don't mind accents on people. British accents, western accents, it's all good. I guess it's kinda impossible to tell whether I have one or not, but I bet somebody from NY would think so.
