Making money

I was wondering what your oppinions on this was...

In past weeks, I've been playing online poker for money. Now, I'm not sure what to think of it. The procedure in which we play is called "Freeroll" in which the contestants (often several hundred people) don't have to pay a cent to get in or put any real money into it. The site provides all the money ($50 per tournament) and distributes it to the winners according to their rank (example: if 600 players are in it, they'd pay the top 60 players or so, the first place person about 13 dollars and the 60th place person about 10 cents). Would this be considered as wrong or as just good sport with a prize, since it's not really gambling?

Hmmm, I don't know, I mean it seems like any other game where you can win a prize, but I really couldn't say for sure. I personally wouldn't do it, but I'm not sure if I would say it's sinful or anything. . .
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of Heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of Heaven, my victory won,
May I reach Heaven’s joys, O bright Heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

actually, it is a legitamate thing. You wouldn't believe how much money a site like that makes when they have thousands of people gambling on it daily. The server keeps a small portion of every pot (about 1 dollar I think) that reaches the Flop in poker, and a small percentage of the bet in Backgammon.

It's a great site, and the best part is that it has a playmoney system so you don't have to put any real money into it if you don't want to, but you can still play with real people. Shameless plug: <snip>

Please don't post URLs to sites where gaming is done with actual money (gambling, games or otherwise) -- not because of any moral issue per se, but because there are people under 18 here and many are illegal for them to play.
