New Porn Laws? Christians Rejoice

Postby Fsiphskilm » Wed Sep 14, 2005 6:33 pm

Many MANY popular sites, that have freely accepted NUDE sexual photos of poeple, are now temporarily offline Because of 18 USC 2257

Sites like www.ratemy-----.com, that use to freely allow anyone on earth to upload a picture of themselves naked in sexual poses, now display this message...

CENSORED BY US GOVERNMENT
18 USC 2257

Yes, that is correct. The things that used to be here, k-razy digital pictures of w**** from around the world, have been made retroactively illegal by the US government, in a side-handed attack on the pornography industry.

The government is mandating that we meet certain bookkeeping requirements, ones impossible to meet for this site. Never mind that those requirements do not actually gain the public anything. This is the strongest attack on free speech since the passage of the CDA, and oddly, the media seems to have hardly noticed. The penalty for not abiding by these bookkeeping requirements is five years prison.

The regulations were promulgated by Alberto Gonzales, US Attorney General appointed by George Bush. If you voted for ---------------censored by Volt----------------------- -------------- ----------------Religious Zealots--------- ----------- waaaaaa we can't get our porn ---------------

A slew of RateMy_________ (private parts) sites have gone down due to this. This is a GOOD thing. Keeps kids from getting curious and turning gay.

In Britain they're trying to pass a law that makes Violent Porn illegal.

Hopefull people are moving in the right direction, and aren't going to be brainwashed by Horny Perverts who claim to be protecting "Rights & Freedom".

Edit by Ash: I don't know why our censor didn't catch one of the words up there, but it was rather vulgar. Censor'd.

I didn't even know such sites exist. Lucky me. Some ppl seriously need to find other things to focus their enthusiasm on...other than their bodies.

I don't know whether this ruling will solve/suppress the problem but hey, it's nice to know that someone in the government still has some form of moral standard.

EDIT: Oh btw, I'm not claiming that I'm completely innocent or a perfect angel. The less temptations out there, the more grateful I am.

What 18 USC 2257 REGULATES & RESTRICTS

Oh man, there's a TON of RateMy sites.

Ever since, HotOrNot.com

RateMyBunny
RateMyKitten
RateMyPuppy

(^_^) I gave every pic a 10 btw.

A lot of RateMe sites (both Cute, and Nasty) have gone online. It seems 18 USC 2257 is affecting THESE open to public sites. Their webmasters are angry and keep calling supporters of 18 USC 2257 "Religous Zealots" even though 18 USC 2257 is meant for keeping CHILD PORN off the net. These guys just don't get it.

This Code does NOT limit Porn, it just Forces ALL porn sites to keep an official record of all models and members, so that no one under 18 is exposed sexualy in such a fashion.

As soon as I read the opening post (even without knowing what the law was in words), I figured it had something to do with child pornography, as they probably don't require you to attach an age with the picture (or they do, but all you have to do is say "I'm 18!" and they take your word for it).

So, either way, this is a good thing in my book.

It's just sad that People are making this sound like a Limit on "Freedom and Rights"

This Doesn't BAN porn, it just FORCES all porn sites to have documentation on all the people they show. There's nothing unfair about it. The law is the law, 18+ ONLY. You can't have 17 year olds on your site.

This basicly Cleans up Illegal Porn. Free Porn, Cheap Porn, Open Source Porn. All the Easy to get stuff. The only sites that would be able to survive this would be proffessional ones and very soft-core porn (non-nude). So yea this is a very good thing. It gets rid of a lot of large cheap/free/open source porn communities. It would be nice to force all porn viewers to be 18+, in the future hopefully only the paying sites will survive, this will insure everyone that wants to see that filth will have credit cards and be old enough to legally disgust themselves in it.

One way or the other, this is fair for everyone, For both Jesus-Freaks and Porn-Freaks. It doesn't limit rights or freedoms, it just enforces that if you're going to do something like this, do it right.

Not being familiar with the law, I looked up up on findlaw and it would appear that it doesn't apply to just nudity but to actual sex pictures - last updated 2003, so I'll check a news site to see if there's an article on what's new.

Okay, from what I read, it seems that they've decided that web sites must now maintain the same records, and that online redistributors are also required to keep the same records as producers. My guess is that the complaints are about the fact that this requirement seems to have been imposed retroactively, and they're (a) whining about it because they have to do more work, and (b) redistributors of other people's content are whining because they can't find the original producer to get the records.

[teasing] Though I have to say, Volt, you seem much more up-to-date on what's being displayed on ratemyprivateparts-type sites than I am. [/teasing]

I guess I'll have to institute more thorough record-keeping on ratemyeyepatchandparrot.com, ratemyhook.com, and ratemypegleg.com, though, just in case they start going after ratemypirateparts-type sites. :)
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

if you type in "-------------- US government" Those are the main keywords that most of these sites all have in common that GOOGLE will pull up. Simply type in those keywords, and you'll get a nice list of "Yeah the US government is censoring us, bla bla bla religous zealots, this isn't freedom, bla bla bla, me want my porn, all the cool porn that was once here is now gone, we're not allowed to show anymore images because of Bush!"

[indent]Curiously I clicked the site closest to my mouse arrow. RateMy------- is as far as i got. The whole page is censored. But if you check google there's quite a long list of sites that have been Censored/banned. I don't exactly want to go to all of them and see the same "Yeah the US Gov, banned us" RateMy----- is the one that sort of stuck out the most. Obviously due to it's name. Yeah, i took a risk by clicking. I wanted to know what was going on.[/indent]

Honestly, I'm not afraid to click on risky content. If it's bad I just close the window and get on with my life, I've been exposed to stuff like that as a kid, for those members who haven't been here long and have never been around to read any of my testimonials about my "former life" Pornography, homosexuality, Hentai. Something long ago, in a distant land, you could call it Japan I guess. :dizzy:

No, because that's the law...

You can't ban porn from the face of the earth no matter how many christians protest. The least you can do is enforce the government laws. According to this country you have to be 18 or older to view porn. That should be enforced.

This would keep millions of kids safe. If I were the one with complete control over world content I'd ban porn [period]. Sadly I'm not :(

----So If you're 18 or older porn is ok?
Apparently that's what the law says. Better to be 18+ and endulging in porn, than being 12-17 and being exposed to it.

Personally I don't find this interesting. I don't go around looking for this stuff. And if I was, darn it this is America and people should basically be able to do whatever they want, perverted or not.

however I do agree with the 18+ law, Kaemmerite makes a good point.

I'm sure you didn't mean it this way, but that makes no sense. If that was the case then anyone could sexually harrass people, kiddie porn would be on every magazine shelf, and God knows what else. True freedom is having the responsibility to deal with the consequences of your actions. Hence why we're a free nation and you can do anything you want, you'll just have to live with the consequences good or bad. These sites had unchecked images that had sexual content with minors, that's illegal and for good reason.

You really should go back read the entire thread on what this law actually does to internet porn.

And yeah it would be nice if the 18+ law on porn could be enforced on the internet, but it's not gonna happen now. Too many issues as far as privacy goes and then actually trying to enforce the act...

I think that's totally wrong. People do have a right to freedom, yes, but you Are a sicko if you look, post or enjoy porn. Period.
People all over the world should live by God's morals not their own. God's standing in the room you know, He exists over everything, He is in the room where you are, where I am where everyone in the universe is! We make mistakes, its normal, nobody's perfect besides God, but if people know what they're doing is wrong and do it anyway, they are slapping that in God's face and thus making another greater sin. For younger people who are still building their walk with God and trying to keep it pure, Satan will put up roadblocks and try to get them to walk in the wrong direction. If we choose to follow his advice instead of God's we will fall and have to climb up the hill again. Pornopraghy is something that can stick to people like flypaper, this is the way that Satan wants it. Its not right. Not for anyone even if you were ninty-years-old. This is my honest opinion. If we are Christians shouldn't we live under Godly morals?

Consider this a warning, Eriana. We are all sinners. No one here is Jesus - everyone fails from time to time. Keep the comments polite and on track - you can make snide comments about the articles, not the people you may disagree with. This is an area where a lot of people struggle - it can be addicting to people.

I was not trying too. I just do not see any excuse for porn. Forgive me if I came off as rude. It was not intended to be that way. and when I used "you" I meant it as a plural, not pointing fingers.

no i was saying 18+ for the models and such. and sexually harrassing someone is totally different than viewing porn. Again, I don't look at porn, it doesnt interest me in any way. But if it interests someone else, this is America and they have the right to look! and when you say kiddie porn, i did say the 18+ law is a good point, meaning I'm glad the website was shut down because people under 18 could take pictures of themselves. I know that this site was illegal, but I wouldnt go around saying- BAN ALL PORN! for porn is harmless, it just appears to give some people a thrill, rather we as christians agree with it or not. And this country gives ut the right to practice whatever religions we want. we're not all forced to believe in Christ, its by choice.... Some areas force you to believe in certain things, and thats pretty bad =(

ack I wish I were better at writing arguments, I know what I'm trying to say but I can't arrange words in a way where I can express it properly :mutter:
