I do it occasionally. It is good. Often I do it when I'm stressed.

I have not as of yet. I may do it in the future but I have my doubts.

It's physically unwise for me to fast, thus the reason I've never done so before and do not intend to any time in the future. I have blood sugar problems, and not listening to my body when it says I need food can make me sick.

My church sometimes sets days for fasting while we all pray about a certain issue. It's good practice, I hope more churches pick it up.

I second Kokoro and Natsumi. I'm hypoglocemic, so fasting can be a bad thing for me. I've had to do it for a day before, due to surgery-type stuff, and that was miserable. (I did find out that day that gum, a tic-tac, or even just chewing on your lip until you can get food helps.)

I would love to do something like the 30-Hour Famine, but it's just not possible. There are varying degrees of hypoclocemia, but still-I could pass out, lose muscle control, get migraine-type headaches, majorly lose my temper.

There are other ways to fast though, as Natsumi said-giving up comics, tv, sweets, etc. and I do those from time to time.

I can't fast because I dance and I will faint if I don't have calories in me. But I do fast with other stuff, usually candy. My church also has specific times of fasting, and I think it is good to have so many people in together in prayer. The important thing with fasting is that it's not about not eating, it's about praying.

I'm not sure if I technically have hypoglycemia or not, but I get some of the symptoms, so I don't fast much if at all. I have occasionally given up TV or something, but not recently. ^^;;

:lol: Fasting from soda...I should definitely try that the next time the need strikes me. *eyes can of Pepsi on desk* Oh how I will miss it, though, but that's the point of fasting so no biggie. x3;

Occasionally, yes; I do not generally fast very often, but I have found it to be a helpful discipline when I do practice it.

You dance? That's awesome. Anyway, I think that an important part of fasting is also about discipline and self-control.

My dance teacher (Catholic) always used to give up soda for Lent. She wasn't always very cheerful during that time, and it was always right around recital preparation. :sweat:

Yea i dance too, i totally think ifasting is about self-control, discipline, and obedience. I think God wants to see our " obedience level", its not like he needs us to starve ourself. It is for those factors. JUST LIKE TITHING. God doesnt need our money, he has everything, he just wants us to discipline ourselves, have self-control and obey, even though we want to spend the 10% on clothes or something. God likes us showing where our loyalties lie.
