Vegans are just more strict when it comes to eating... Like no dairy products, meat, sea food (some vegitarians eat sea food), etc. They don't eat or drink anything that comes from any animal.

But no, I love my steaks and mashed potatoes. Without the steak, it just doesn't seem right.

Also, I believe I've heard that some extreme vegans don't even wear clothes that are created from materials that mainly consist of animal products such as wool and leather, etc. I'm not sure on that but it's what I've heard.

I was vegan around 13-14 years old and then I was vegetarian til about a year ago. I have a loving relationship with pepperoni pizza and fish though, so yeah...I had to stop calling myself veggie. for all practical purposes though, i almost never eat beef, chicken, turkey, etc. fish and pepperoni are just my weakness.

I've always wanted to meet a vegan and say "Guess what! MILKING COWS DOESN'T KILL THEM!!"

That said, I'm not a vegatarian or vegan. I think that if God killed an animal to give clothing to Adam and Eve, he definitely doesn't mind me doing the same.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Not a vegetarian - I love my meat. ^^; I'll gladly respect any vegetarian, as long as they don't get in my face about killing cows. God gave us animals to eat, there's nothing wrong with eating them.

I used to go somewhat vegetarian. It's all right, but then I got teased some 'cause I actually enjoyed eating fried tofu in my meals. I still prefer chicken to beef, but yeah once in a while I'll get myself a nice steak. And I still eat tofu now and then. My mom was concerned that during the time I first started drinking soymilk I'd develop intolerance. So I'd even it out with soymilk (chocolate only) one day and cow's milk the next day, and so on. Funny thing is while I was a vegetarian my then pastor said I was going New Age. NO I WASN'T!

I agree with Kodai. If a person doesn't want to eat meat, that's fine with me, so long as they don't say, "YOU'RE KILLING THE ANIMALS AND THEY'RE TREATED CRUELLY AND BLAH BLAH BLAH." The second they give me a guilt trip about eating meat, I don't like them.

Hitler was a vegeterian.

Hitler had stomach issues. The man couldn't hold his sausage.

I was a vegetarian. Then I got sick. Now I just don't eat loads of red meat.

I eat it all, but I prefer chicken to beef.

On a side note, I think I have an intolerance to large amounts of grease. I ate at Long John Silver's the other night, and the large amounts of grease gave me a headache. :P

Not vegetarian. I went "raw" a year or so ago, for like three months? Something like that. So I didn't eat any meat then, or milk, etc.

But now I eat meat. I just dont' like most of it very much.

BTW, I went raw for health issues, not because I wanted to be a vegan. Make of that what you will.

P.S. When I was a very young child, I did kinda want to be a vegetetarian, because I didn't like meat very much, and I wanted to keep every animal as a pet.

XD I went vegetarian for about a week in an attempt to lose weight, but after doing it, I realized I'd rather just exercise. It was interesting, though, trying to find all kinds of stuff to eat without meat that was healthy. The best thing I found was this meatless taco at this one place that was just loaded with veggies. It was actually good. But right now, I'm currently on meat and loving it. e.e

I think that would make you a "carnivore." ^_^

I'm an omnivore, personally, although there are a few things I don't like to eat. Coconuts, mushrooms, and shellfish top that list.

Vegetarians are fine, but I find Vegans to be vaguely annoying. Mostly because 1) I find the notion of animal liberation to be somewhat silly and 2) I really like steak.

Seriously, though, I used to know a vegan and we got along famously. I will even eat vegetarian while dining with such a friend because vegans find eating animals to be offensive (whereas vegetarians usually do not).

What really annoys me isn't vegans, but activists who feel it is OK to be annoying and abusive to others. That goes for all activists, not just vegans.

As long as my food is killed...erm mercifully I'll eat it, but there are some brands that DO torture their animals, and we don't eat those. We also don't eat veil because of the way the calves are killed. They're strung up off the ground, never to move..while their blood is slowly drained from their bodies...small amounts at a time. This suposedly does something to the meat to make it taste better. It's cruel really.

I think that we maybe need to step back a little bit with the anti-vegetarian-vegan bashing. For example.. sure God gave us cows to eat, but does that mean that he wants us to eat red meat every meal? Definatly not.. but look at the health difference between people to eat tons of red meat and people who eat tons of vegetables? See my point? I think moderation of everything is the key, but I am pretty sure that the vegetarians are closer to the right ammounts of moderation than the rest of burger-happy America. Everybody knows how great American diets are....
All sin can do is threaten us with death, and that's the end of it. Grace, because God is putting everything together again through the Messiah, invites us into life--a life that goes on and on and on, world without end. - Rom. 5:21 (Msg)

In my opinion this thread has been quite civil and respectful of both vegetarians/vegans and omnivores.

Having said that, I wouldn't consider meat to be a vice for most people. Simply eating it at every meal (or just once a day) is not really excessive. It may be more than people ate in the past, but that is only a result of the fact that people in developed nations are now able to afford to have meat every day. Several factors contribute to poor health in Americans, including lack of exericise, stress, and methods of food preparation (i.e. lots of junk food and fried dishes).
