From the title, you must CLEARLY be speaking of Full Moon wo Sagashite. After all, it has all the key elements to be the best:

1. Tanemura-sensei

2. Because of 1, you get absolutely breathtaking artwork

3. A fantastic blend of drama, angst, and comedy that will take you an nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster

4. It's only 7 volumes! Cheap!

5. Cause I said so XD

^_^ Tactics by Sakura Kinoshita and Kazuko Higashiyama all the way. Beautiful artwork, unique characters (I don't think you can get much quirkier than Kantaro or Raikou. ), and an interesting plot with humor mixed in. Plus the fact that half the cast is based on creatures from Japanese mythology. X3

Juvenile Orion, Because... Most of the characters are male and cute?
It has an interesting story and the characters all change in some way by the end, it's not very long [only 5 books], and it has a happy ending

Rurouni Kenshin. At 28 volumes you'll be happy for a long time then miss it dearly when it's over.

Next would be Hikaru no Go (almost finished with it)

The best Shoujo... well I have yet to decide. And even the best Shoujo still isn't better than Rurouni Kenshin.

And to avoid getting beaten to a pulp, Tanemura Arina is an awome manga- ka.

For me, personally, would be Love Hina. Some good ones as well is Rurouni Kenshin, Trigun, Naruto, Evangelion (though thier is detailed mild nudity -_-;; ), Negima, and Chobits.

The "Best" Manga is typically up to the reader. Really, it's all about opinion, so for me, it's a bit of tie between Naruto, FMA, and, of course, One Piece.

For me, it's a tossup between Trigun/Trigun Maximum and Saiyuki/Saiyuki Reload.

The best manga in the whole wide world is Steelblood! ^_________^

...Because the author would probably severely disown me as her friend if I were to say otherwise.

I ought to disown you for saying it!

Best manga...hmm. Furuba absolutely for shoujo (at least, it's probably my favorite). My favorite for shounen...well, you'd still have to work pretty hard at beating Ruroken and FMA.

People who write below their abilities in order to crank out tons of books and make a buck. Especially Christian authors who do that. Rurouni Kenshin, purely for nostalgic purposes more than quality. I'm sure there are manga that I've enjoyed more, but that doesn't matter, I just love Kenshin. I think its place as my favorite anime/manga franchise of all time has mostly been solidified.
I'm a shoe-in for hater of the year.

I am getting more enjoyment out of Yotsuba&! than I have out of any manga I've ever read. It may not be technically the best in art or style, but it's a great read.

I'm probably going to have to go with Fruits Basket, though the Evangelion manga is also quite good.

But yeah, I'm gonna go with Fruits Basket. I can't think of a single manga that has kept me fully interested and on the edge of my seat every volume, and the plot twists are absolutely incredible.
