DO you like sushi and/or ramen[sp?]? Did you start wanting to eat it because of anime?

I ask this because my husband keeps saying he wants ramen like naruto because naruto makes it look "yummy". Do you find the same thing happens to you?

All you can eat Japanese restaurants are gaining popularity among people I know. There is a Japanese restaurant that is right beside the closest Chinese restaurant to our church. Other favourites include pho and Korean BBQ. Instant ramen is a staple food for University and camp food at our church, since most of the time it's the only thing we crazy kids can cook. 90% of the time, the instant ramen of choice is 出前一丁.

I like Ramen because it tastes good!

I got into liking California rolls (Seawead wrapped around rice and some kind of seafood) from a friend who kept bringing it to school.. at first she put A LOT of wasabi on it and I was like >.< but now I like it with soysauce!

Ive noticed a lot of "anime fans" try to get into asian food more... it's weird... we were at a food court at otakon (me spoony kae and meboeck) and we noticed nearly EVERYONE going to the chinese foodstand.... i was like "oh my gosh! they are like asian-wannabes!" And here was I... an asian... eating sbarro pasta...

I like sushi, but have only had it a couple times. I wasn't introduced to it by anime though, but a Japanese exchange teacher we had staying at our house for several weeks.

I loved ramen even before I loved anime! But I don't like sushi too much. The taste just doesn't do it for me.

LOL! I do that too. (Mm, Mexican food.) But anyway, I've liked ramen even before I knew what anime was, like meboek. Occasionally I'll eat the spicy ramen. Ha ha, funny story: My mom doesn't like eating ramen because once she left some ramen sitting in the soup in the kitchen for a while and when she came back, the noodles were huge and thick! She got freaked and thought that's what happens when you eat noodles and let them sit in your tummy.

Sushi is OK. I mean, I don't eat it that much and I don't see the HUGE deal it is among anime fans. I don't get the octopus and crab and shellfish sushi either. The spider sushi is funny; it has legs sticking out of the roll! XD I prefer salmon and/or mackerel sushi. Tuna is ok. When I go to this popular sushi buffet restaurant, Todai, it's like, the sushi is better and I want to eat all of it! Todai rocks!

Tried it, liked it. I've eaten it at least twice, no, wait, more than that... Anyway, I'm not a huge sushi eater (hey, it IS expensive), but I've tried it and it's good.

However, I *adore* miso soup...

The truth is, my brothers and I did try sushi partially because of anime. (We went with a Japanese exchange student so she could enjoy some "home cookin,''' so to speak.)

I liked both before I even knew what anime was. Been eating Ramen all my life. And an exchange student from Japan made sushi for a class of mine and I tried it and have loved it ever since. I'm working on perfecting my sushi making techneque. And I'm popular at my moms work for my sushi and miso soup. Now miso soup, dango, Anpan, and Taiyaki I tried because I heard about them on anime. I've always enjoyed using chopsticks. I think they are fun.

I love sushi. I especially like it with fried chicken.:P That's no joke either it's one of my favorite after work meals. Ramen is ok for awhile but ya get sick of it easily. I can only eat so much processed stuff.

I've grown up cooking and eating Japanese food. ^^; I've been enjoying sushi even before I knew it was called sushi. Same with ramen and miso soup and sukiyaki.

Though I admit...I will not eat takoyaki or natto. >.> eeeew...

I ate ramen almost everyday growing up.

On the other hand I haven't tried sushi until I was in about 8th grade. I tried it when I was at a chinese buffet. I figured, I was here and I've never tried it, so why not? Taste wise... Yeah it's okay. There's some really good stuff and some not so good.. But anime had no play in the decision of tasting it. Just peer pressure and curiosity :P

I was introducted to the instant style of ramen as a kid growing up in Hong Kong. I used to like it a lot. I haven't eaten it for a long time, mostly because instant style ramen isn't very healthy.

I like sushi a lot. But it had nothing to do with anime or manga. I just like the taste of sushi (esp. salmon and eel sushi).

It is my default choice if I cannot decide what to eat when going out. :)

Never had Ramen. Love sushi. Found a nice Japanese restaurant in Tucson not too long ago. really good food. Enjoyed the seafood okonomiyaki. Good prices too.

I ate sushi before I was into anime. Actually, I started with gimbap, a Korean sushi-like roll, but it has vegetables instead of fish.

First true sushi I ate was in Seattle.

Best sushi, by far, in the Ginza district in Tokyo. Very fresh, and the rice melts like velvet in your mouth.

DC sushi is OK, but nothing to write home about.

I like unagi the best, whether by itself or as part of a more complex roll. And an eel bowl isn't bad either.

I don't really care for any type of seafood, cooked let alone raw. I have had vegetable sushi. However, can't say I would go out of my way to get it.

I've had very little experience with Ramen save for those little packs you can get for 10 cents. But some of those give me heartburn. There's a little Japanese place in town that has "noodle bowls" printed on their window. I have been very tempted to go in and see what they had.

I adore sushi, but I stick mainly with vegetable rolls, shrimp rolls and California rolls. I'm not fond of sashimi at ALL. I had tuna one time and it tasted awful and the consistency was like mashed potatoes, so I stay away from the stuff.

I'm okay with instant Ramen, as long as it's not beef. I've never had the pleasure of eating REAL Ramen, though.

My interest in sushi actually has nothing to do with anime

I absolutely love fresh salmon sashimi. :jump: I could be a happy bear.

I didn't get into sushi because of anime, but because of moving to an area with a lot of Asian influence. Where I grew up, I think there was only one sushi place. I was a little wary of it at the time, but I ate there once. After moving to [name omitted because of all the crazed stalkers out there], I started eating sushi a lot more. We've found a couple really good sushi places. I'm a happy bear.

I'm afraid to try Sushi. Seaweed wrapped, with little seafood bits inside....makes me kinda queasy.

Is it really as good as people say it is? Can someone give me a "If you like _____, then you'll love sushi!" thing? (XD....you don't have to, it's just I curious to try it and put off from it at the same time.)
