Betraying pastor?

Postby ~Natsumi Lam~ » Sun Aug 21, 2005 9:00 pm

Any of you have a pastor that totally turned his back on you? And you turned out having a positive change in yourself in the end?

Personally, i had a group of betraying pastors. One [hurt like nails] guy... note i was his right hand man.... left the church after 1 and 1/2 years without even telling me or the youth group. He was painting with me that night, the day after... he was gone. He didnt even tell us why. That hurt bad.... but i learned " God has it handled". The pain is still there, but i learned to forgive.

I didn't consider him "my" pastor, but one from a church I went to as a child was outed for his behind-closed-doors drug addiction.

I loathe my life; I would not live forever. Let me alone, for my days are but a breath.

Some of us had bad experiences with old pastors... we can learn from others pains. For me to know that others have had the same experiences, helps me know that i am not alone.

Now, consider this..... gossip is to bring others down and to talk smack [whether true or not]... now neither the other person or myself said the pastors names. We just said something about pastoral misfortunes. My reasoning for posting this thread was to gain knowledge on whether or not others have experienced what i have experienced... and for me to consider if my hurt is grounded.... did you consider this before you jumped to the "christianese" oppertunity to say gossip... i know how to play your biblical game. Now before you talk next time, you should consider others point of view. [your going to say... before you said all this you should consider mine.... right ::wink::]

Do i really have to explain what a right hand man is?

Okay mate, calm down please! I'm sorry I called it gossip. What's this about playing your biblical game? I'm not messing with you or saying 'I'm holier than thou' sort of thing I just wasn't sure were the grounding of gossip stands and what is and isn't. There are grey areas that you have to be careful of. Again I'm sorry. Please forgive me.

I know what a right-hand man is but do you mean the pastor's assistant or something? Because right-hand man doesn't seem like the right word. Maybe your church is different in that respect.

God Bless

For a while, I was working with a group to create an online support site for pastors, but it folded due to personnel conflicts. I acutally studdied for the ministry before a lot of stuff happened. My mother is a minister. I just thought I would point these things to help people understand that this is an issue that saddens me deeply.

I'm locking this thread, for quite a few reasons:

1. Real pastors have a calling to live above reproach, something not humanly possible. all churches have at least a few members who are so "needy" that they take huge quantities of time; most pastors end up leaving the ministry.

2. CAA has an official policy (and precidence) of not letting so-called negative threads ("post things you dislike," "why I hate such-and-such," "what's the worst thing that happened to you" etc) stand. Especially ones that create strife and/or division.

3. Pastors are human and will occasionally behave as such. The quick answer to your questions is, "Yes, every pastor has sinned at some point." Some people would consider that having a back turned on them. I'm not going to let them voice that opinion here.

4. We do not know the mind of God. It's easy to point fingers when anyone we respect does something that we don't think is what God would have them to do. The bottom line, however, is that we don't know what God told them - only God and them knows that.

5. Reflecting on things like this can make peple more likely to put a negative spin on something that their pastor might do.

Thank you for your understanding.
