Uhh, I guess I'd have to agree with Yahusha, either that or just let it go. Does it have a collar?

I would ask around and see if anybody you know wants a cute little adorable kitty (yes, ask the question with those exact adjectives. Get them thinking about how cute it is before they have a chance to say no.) In fact, instead of using adjectives, just bring the kitty along with you. Target people who have kids. Once the kid puts on its puppy eyes and says, "Mommy, can we pleeeeaase keep it?" the chances of the family taking it in go up 35 percent. And kind of scruff it up a little bit too, rub a little water on its face, make it look rejected and pathetic. Evoke their pity.

OK that last thing might be a little extreme. Only do that if things start looking hopeless. And hey, good luck! :thumb:

Give it food, water, and try to find out if is it male or female. Does your local animal shelter accept animals right now? (Some won't.)

If they won't, you may be have to settle for letting it live on your property and sponge off you. (That can be fun.) :3

But it's important to know if it's male or female. If it's female, you'll want to either find a home for her or get her fixed before she reaches "the age of maturity." Elsewise you could get MORE cats on your hands.

you have to be careful about giving it to animal control, because some of those places euthanize them after 30 days i think. put an ad in the newspaper with a good description of it if it is older, but i think you said it was just born. those are usually free. if you can't keep it, find someone who can. i think all pet ads in the newspaper are free.

Hey, don't put it in the bathtub! Believe me, when we first got our cat we tried that. NOT A PRETTY SIGHT. Just wet a wash cloth and wipe it down pretty good, and then dry it off with a paper towel. Fair warning: It probably won't like it. But it's for its own good. Just make sure he's not in a position to try to move too much when you do it, or you will be clawed. Not fun.

:) That's a nice character trait you've got there... :)

At any rate, if you can, find someone who knows about cats...it's important, because if the cat is very young, it may have needs you can't supply.

Yumie's suggestion is actually a REALLY good one.

If you can avoid taking it to an animal shelter, please do so. Let that be a last resort. I'm sure some female around there SOMEWHERE will be powerless to the cuteness that is a kitten. *is guilty of such*

Alice is also right xD

The one my mom work's at doesn't euthanize them unless they are feral.
But, it depends on the animal shelter.

If you have a comb, use that. Also a damp cloth will help. The kitten shouldn't mind this, as its mother would clean it with her rough tongue. Just be gentle as you can, especially around the face. :3

Can you tell how old it is? Or the approximate size? Does it seem like it's still nursing? Is it very hungry?

Hey, I was assuming it was a larger cat-- if it's a kitten you can probably just wash it in the kitchen sink or something. I was worried that it would get panicky and bodily injure you (such was my own experience.)

EDIT: Oh yeah, about feeding it-- if it's real small it more than likely won't eat any solid food you give it. Go for milk in a baby bottle. If you actually have to buy a bottle, buy the smallest one you can find. Bottles designed for a baby's mouth would be a little large for a kitten.

Heh... ^^

You may need to warm it up a bit. Cold milk doesn't always mix with kittens.

Oh! Ha ha, I'm so sorry that I didn't think of this before, but you might want to call some kind of vet or something and find out what kind of milk is OK for the kitten. This is totally gross, but when we first got our cat we gave it skim and it got diarreha, bleh, that definitely gave us second thoughts about keeping him, ha ha ha. . . I'm not sure if it matters with kittens or what the deal is, just thought I'd throw that out there.

EDIT: If anybody knows more about this slight complication, feel free to enlighten us. ^-^

When we had kittens living on and under our back porch, we gave them milk with kitten food soaked in it. They slurped it like greedy hogs, and seemed to do all right on it. Although my mother always made sure we didn't feed them too much of that, so they would still get their mother's milk.

Cow's milk isn't good for cats. At Petco, you can get milk specially designed for kittens.

awww... i found a kitty a while back, hid it in my room for a few days before anyone found out. lol. yea, get a kind of milk that is specificaly made for kittens, and if your mom won't go for letting you keep it, contact the local animal shelter, you could most likely search for it online, if you don't live in a hole in the ground.
