Where is It?

Postby 4m3r1c4 » Sat Aug 13, 2005 3:11 pm

Where and what is the most beautiful thing youve ever seen?
What is it that you seek?

beyond the paths and roads we travel,
there lies a land we long to see,
beyond the clouds and rain and distant thunder,
is the place we've been in dreams.

Most beautiful thing was the time I saw sunlight on falling snow against a blue sky while standing under a magnolia. That was outside the dorm.

This is probably a fault in myself, but I very rarely label anything beautiful. I have hiked a few mountains that have had good views at some of their peaks, and a few waterfalls that were nice, but nothing immediately leaps to mind. My breath will probably only be taken away after my death.

The most beautiful thing I've seen...

For me, I like to climb/hike high hills and be able to look over a vast piece of land. Seeing the tress, lakes, rivers or whatever. Kind of like a bird's view point. Water streams are really nice too; peaceful and soothing. To me, nature itself is really beautiful. It's nice to just sit back, relax and appreciate the things the Lord has created- with sure beauty. It's actually quite calming.

But to pick a favorite is just too hard.

:( That's a shame...I almost feel that some scenes were painted by God, just for us to see and enjoy and know that He loves us. Kind of like an artist painting a portrait dedicated to someone he loves or a composer writing a song just for someone he cares deeply for.

One of the most beautiful things I've ever seen was the sunrise on the Adriatic see in Italy. The sky was clear and there were colors I've never seen before in that sunrise. The water was blue and calm and peaceful, a mirrored reflection of the sky.

Clouds! Oh my word! I am convinced that God made clouds the way He did because He knew I'd love them. I like to watch the way the sun paints them as it's setting. I'm always looking up and commenting on how lovely the clouds are and then walking into things like parking meters. I don't know what it is about clouds, but when I look up and see them, it's like they're little love notes from God. Like He's saying 'I love you', only writing it in the sky instead of on a scrap of paper.
Love wins.

Just look in the mirror. God spent a lot of time on that.

And this may seem a bit strange, but I find scenes of destruction to be somewhat hauntingly beautiful.

I've seen a lot of really cool things. It would be impossible for me to pick one that was the "most beautiful."

One that comes to my mind though... I was once stranded on the side of an interstate (the cars were all breaking the speed limit, so they were causing a lot of noise, and there was very little space between me and the cars passing at like 90MPH.) I was stuck on the other side of a hill that made it impossible to see the cars coming until they would pass you within a second. It was really weird feeling the intense gust of wind from the passing cars and being so close to a possible death (I didn't fear for my life, it was just an interesting thought) and having so much nose around me..

And then it started to rain in the distance as the sun started to set. The clouds were enormous, all coming from one direction. As they got closer, there was intermittent lightning up in the clouds that didn't reach the ground... The way the clouds were positioned was freakin amazing, and you could see the lightning in bewteen the gaps of the clouds, and the parts that were blocked by clouds glowed PURPLE, and sometimes the lightning crawled along the outside of the clouds. I had never seen PURPLE lighting before that, or since.

So what made it especially beautiful was not just the cloud formation, or the lightning, or the sunset, or the distinct change in the mood... It was everything all together that created a wonderful feeling.

I see God in nature all the time....

Love Song

You touched my face
With a gentle breeze
You cradled me
In the swaying trees

You spoke my name
Through the crashing sea
The surging waves
Whispered to me

I saw your face
In the setting sun
And once again
My heart was won;

Your evidence
In the vast expanse
Of sea, of sky,
The endless dance

Of a love surpassing
Space and time
The Creator’s heart
Embraces mine

Hm, I failed to mention that I enjoy cloudy skies. There is something nice about complete grey (better if it is slightly misty and cool), but I prefer well-defined storm clouds, especially those moving swift enough for their movement to be easily visible.

Call me crazy, but I've always considered the human female to be the most beautiful thing in the world, with my Lady being the most beautiful of all.

What I seek is to be with her for the rest of my life, and to love her more and more every day.

i think the view from the mountain ranges near Quiaba, Brasil. It's like a huge endless stretch of cliffs and waterfalls overlooking mile after mile of jungle, intermixed with occasional farms dotting the landscape. Awesome!
