2nd Degree Burns...

Postby Heed » Mon Aug 01, 2005 9:21 pm

Yeah... As a few of you know I am in sunny, humid, hot Japan right now. I went swimming last week in a river up in the mountains because the ocean on the side of Japan I am on is REALLY polluted and there aren't many places to swim. Anyway, this river was VERY scenic and tranquil, and also very clean because it is fresh water from the mountains so it is also very cold. Anyway, I was enjoying myself, and I didn't put on any sunscreen because I didn't know how long we were going to stay. So I went without a shirt on for maybe 6 or seven hours. I didn't realize till the next day I had 2nd degree burns on my shoulders and upper arms. So my shoulders blistered up and leaked out this yellow water and I couldn't even move my shoulders without severe pain for many days. Myarms then blistered up but they didn't hurt as bad or turn yellow. I am still healing but I feel normal now.

Word of warning. ALWAYS WEAR SUNSCREEN EPECIALLY IF YOU ARE A PASTEY WHITE AMERICAN WITH A FARMER'S TAN LIKE ME.

Well, that's about it for now :)
The Straight and Narrow

I chose to walk the straight and narrow road, but one day I lost balance and fell off it. I had fallen onto some sharp rocks and injured myself. There were people passing by who would merely stare at me, and then keep walking. Thoughts of worthlessness entered into my mind, and as I chose to believe the lies, my wounds grew worse. I was so overcome with grief that I nearly gave up... but then a man walked up to me and stopped. Without saying a word, he started to wrap my wounds, he gave me some water, and then lifted me up and embraced me. He then whispered these words into my ear, "I love you my child." As he said those words I could feel all the worthlessness and despair fall away. He then held out his hands. They had huge holes in them. He then said, "Walk with me." I then took his hand and we walked together. Every now and then I would fall from the road, but no matter where I fell, he was always there to pick me up and tell me that He loved me.

Wow, that's horrible. I was just complaining about my sunburn in another thread, but it was nowhere near this bad. I hope you get better man! What a lousy way to spend your vacation in Japan. I'll pray your burns heal quickly.

A couple of years ago, the same thing happened to me. I wore a tank top to go swimming, and this was in the heat of the day, at like, noon. I didn't remember to put on the sunblock, and right before I got out of the pool my shoulders kinda started to hurt. I thought, eh, sunburn, no big deal.

Wrong. I had second-degree burns all on my shoulders and neck. It was probably one of the worst experiences of my life. I couldn't sleep, was in pain constantly, could barely wear shirts, and had a terrible headache and chills. It took at least a week for it to even blister and start peeling. Ugh, it was so awful. The skin in those areas turned white and got very freckly...>_<

So, I'll never again stay out that long without sunblock. Actually, it's probably a good idea to just stay inside between the hours of like, 10am-3pm.

10-4 is when the sun's the worst. Guess when my shift of pushing carts is? =D Yep...

Heed, I had the same kind of burns years back. It's really painful, I know, and I hope you feel better soon. Get some aloe vera type lotion or burn ointment. ._. Poor guy...

We do not *need* pics. >___<
