Whats your fave Japanese name? It can be a few or just take one each, male/female.

Male: My fave Japanese name is Sadamitsu because it sounds so corny. Otherwise, I like samurai names like Toshio and Samanosuke.

Female: I like the name Sakura.

'Ryu' (Street Fighter), 'Iori' (King of Fighters), and Kakaroto (Dragon Ball - not sure if the 'to' should be 'tou' though) are probably my favourite male Japanese names.

I don't have any favourite female Japanese names.

I would say Kyoko is my favorite. I wanted to name our puppy Kyoko but my wife vetoed that idea.

Ryo, Ryu, etc. and so on can be cool for guys. I also have a fondness for names that end in 'suke' or 'hiko'.

For girls, I'm fond of Sakuya. It was the name of some random character in Tenchi, when it was still on CN.

As is made obvious by my user name, I'm terribly partial to the name Daisuke. I also like...

Boys: Kazumi, Kantarou (hee hee. ), Hidaka, Hayato, Shuichi, Kenji
Girls: Haruko, Michiko, Natsumi, Midori

And a joke my friend and I used to have...the coolest Japanese name ever is: Asakana Takanaka. (say that one out loud. =D)

I personally love the name Sakaki. It can be a surname, a male given name OR a female given name!

I also like the male names Kiyoshi, Jin, and Makoto; and the female names Motoko, Kaname, Kasumi and Ayane (and the similar Ayame)

"Shinta! That name is too soft for a samurai!"-Hiko. ^^

I forgot about Kiyoshi. Doesn't that mean generous? That was going to be the name of my female protagonist, but I could never figure out if it was a male or female name. And the manga never got off the ground anyway, so yeah.

I went through a phase where I translated all of my friend's names into Japanese. Some of them still use it as a sort of alias...there was Kohaku, Ririshii, Koishii...I can't remember the Japanese word for 'laurels'.
