Anime Weekend Altanta.

I know that the con is like two months away and all.

But dragonshimmer and me have been talking about this. We would like to hold a meet up for CAA members that maybe going to it.

AWA

There is the webpage.

Info on it.

$30 - Unitil August 25, 2005

September 23-25, 2005 at the Renaissance Waverly Hotel & Cobb Galleria Centre, Atlanta, Georgia.

Even if its a small group. That would be better then nothing. I know that I should have put the info out sooner, but I wasn't sure if anyone was going to go to this con or not.

If things work out and a few people go. Then maybe next year, we can get a AWA fan table for CAA. AWA is just started this ideal wit the fan table and going to see how it works.

Edit: Here is list of events that will take place at AWA.

There will be four video game rooms. 20 televisions (plus a few plasmas) for all your gaming needs. They will be present various import titles such as Naruto 2 and One Piece Treasure Battle for the GameCube.

Several tournaments will be held again this year such as: Soul Caliber 2, Guilty Gear X:2 #R, Halo, Super Smash Melee, and Dance Dance Revolution Tournament: Perfect Attack sponsored again by RedOctane.

The Time Traveler’s Ball

Enjoy the fashions of yesterday, today and tomorrow as you dance to your ballroom favorites. This year we will be in the spacious Williams Ballroom at the Cobb Galleria Centre.

The Time Traveler's Ball will be held Friday night, September the 23rd from 8pm until Midnight.

Tickets are only $10.00 with a paid AWA membership. Tickets may be purchased along with convention membership prior to AWA. At the convention tickets will be available at Registration until 6pm Friday or may be purchased at the door from 7pm. Light snacks and non alcoholic drinks will be provided.

The Time Traveler’s Ball is a black tie invited event. Men must be attired in a tuxedo or a dark suit and tie. The ladies should be in cocktail, long dresses or dressy evening separates. Ladies' attire must be tea length or longer. Costumes will be allowed only if they fit within the theme and tone of the event, based on the judgment of event staff.

This is not a Masquerade or a Costumed Prom. It is a Formal Ballroom Dance.

Black tie/Tuxedo: Yes.
Dark suit & Tie: Yes.
Leisure Suits: No.
Jeans: No.

While tickets will be sold at the door, advance purchase is preferred. Dress code strictly enforced. If you are purchasing tickets for others, please make certain all members of you party are aware of the dress code.

In addition to the catered fare, there will be a non-alcoholic cash bar. Soft drinks, juices and coffee will be available. Please plan on bringing some extra funds if you choose to enjoy this option.

The Cowboy Bebop Lounge

Please join us late Saturday Sept. 24th for a new event at AWA: the Cowboy Bebop Lounge.

We will be presenting an evening full of the music that inspired the writers and artists behind the hit show. Come and listen to classic Bebop recordings from the legends like Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, Coleman Hawkins, Miles Davis, and Dexter Gordon.

This will be an alternative to the high energy dance events also running Saturday night.

The Lounge is scheduled to start around 11pm in the VAT room (the Habersham Ballroom) and run till the kick us out!

There will be a non-alcoholic cash bar offering soft drinks, juices and a variety of coffee drinks. Remember to hold onto a little of the folding green so you can knock back your favorite caffeinated beverage while listening to the finest in Bebop.

There is no Dress Code, but 1940’s and 50’s wear is appropriate (as of course Cowboy Bebop Cosplay). Get yourself togged to the bricks and we will provide the mezz riffs to wig to.

Hey! I may be going to this. I had to miss it last year because of my lack of money and knowledge. Now I have been stocking up the cash, so at least I can afford to go and look if nothing else. I'm not saying it's positive, but perhaps I can go and meet up with y'all.(if i go to the convention at all)

I'm still chewing the idea of cosplaying Tsunade from Naruto. It depends on how quickly I can throw a GOOD outfit together. If I don't Cosplay, I'll just be decked out in anime wear :D So you guys have met before? Spiffy!

If I can go, I'll be cosplaying as myself. This means jeans, a pair of Chuck Taylors, and my "If You Don't Like Showbread You're An Idiot" t-shirt. However, I don't think I can go. ;-;

About places to eat at.

The Renaissance Waverly Hotel & Cobb Galleria Centre is very good and they have a small mall inside the place. There are a few places to eat there.

Across the street, you have the big mall and I know they have places to eat there too.

As meeting up at the mall, no. I think it would be better to meet up at the con. I think the lobby of hotel where the con is being held at would be the best place. Since you have alot of people around and the lobby is nice and big.

We just meet up somewhere at the con. I just don't know where and I need to talk to someone more about this, before really setting a time and date and place at the con for the meet up.

Guess what?

Upon learning who's going to this, I may make a trip down to GA and go! XD Since I've been planning to go down there anyway, I might go down on that weekend!!!!

I shall pull down the sun and the moon to go to this. I've ALWAYS wanted to meet Wingzero-kun and Dragonshimmer, so this sounds like a great time.

And then all shall learn what I look like...:eyeroll: I'm going as Kenshin, Kiba, and...someone else.

Man, I hope I can go...*prays*

They are going to have two dances this year. The Time Traveler’s Ball is the formal dance that you have to dress up for and it will be on a Friday night, from 8pm until Midnight.

I will be going to this one, since I pay for my ticket to get in already.

Then on Sat, they will have The Cowboy Bebop Lounge.

Of course, we might throw on a little swing music for those interested in cutting a rug.

There is no Dress Code, but 1940’s and 50’s wear is appropriate (as of course Cowboy Bebop Cosplay). Get yourself togged to the bricks and we will provide the mezz riffs to wig to.

I sure hope you can come, HOS-kun. It'll be really fun. Just don't go crazy, okay? The anime overload just might make you go even crazier. Don't bring ANY money you don't plan to spend...I know what I mean....I sure spent my money quick at Kunicon. I believe that's nothing compared to AWA.

I hope you can come n_n

I was speaking with another member who is interested in coming, and I started thinking.

Personally, it looks like I can only come one day. I know that some of you are going to be there the entire weekend, but I have the feeling that maybe one or two of us may only be there for one day. Is there any particular day that everyone is going to be there so that those of us who can only come for one day can make plans and register?

BTW....Jamie, have you thought about maybe just driving up for a day trip?

Also, has anyone given any further thought to an organized meeting or anything? Bradley, I think you know the most about this event. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking that we should put down what days were going to be at the con. Go from there and then pick a day. If they are some of you that are going to the thing all three days, then you can meet up with me all those days if you like.

I will be heading to the con on Thursday night. I like to go on and get set up in my room that night and pick up my passes that night. So, I will be at the con all day Friday, Sat and part of Sunday.

I will put more info on the events that will be taking place on each day and stuff soon.

I have a good idea on where we should meet up at the con, but I like to hear what others have to say too.

I'll personally probably head up there on Friday afternoon, hang out and stay the night Friday night, stay all day Saturday and come home late Saturday night, since Atlanta isn't that far away from here. It depends. I'm trying to get my best friend to come. If she comes, I'll come up on Friday after noon. If she doesn't, I'll drive up by myself on Saturday and make it a day trip n_n What about the rest of you? LESS THAN TWO MONTHS :D WHOO!

Okay, folks.

AWA is two monthes away and we need get a head count on who is coming or maybe coming. Plus, we knew to know what days you are going to be there, so that we can plan on meeting.

I know some of us will be there all three days and we can meet up with the ones that are going to stay there if you like. But to have a full CAA meeting and the ones that are can only come for a day or so. We need to know what days you'll are coming.
