Are you a morning person?

Postby Aeolus21 » Sun Jul 17, 2005 11:50 pm

Just curious to know if anyone here is more active in the morning than at night. Personally I am not, since I often dread having to get my day started after waking up. Usually I get active as the day goes along and reach my 'peak' in the evening. This essentially makes me a "Night Owl".

Though I do envy those morning people who get a head start in the day. :)

I'm not a morning person at all. I get more energetic at night, most of the time (makes it hard to get to sleep). Sadly I haven't had a refreshing sleep for some years now.

Of course not. I'm a confirmed night owl. I mean, just look at the time.

I hate mornings. I wish I could get up early...but working nightcrew has ruined a normal sleep cycle for me. Typicaly its around 4am before I go to sleep.

I would love to be a morning person. Not happening anytime soon. My only problem is that I have a stack of studies that desperately need to be completed and my wonky sleeping habits have me sleeping too late in the morning when I should be spending time knocking them out. Of course, I could do them at night, nut night time is my time to chat online... preferably CAA. ;)

I'm a morning bird by nature, hands down. I used to define sleeping in as 9 am, tops. College, among other things in the adult world we call "life" has really messed with that idea...now I sleep til 9:45-10ish normally, and can stay up pretty late too (hence I'm posting at 2 am). However, give me 2 minutes in the morning and I'm fully alert. By afternoon all I want to do is curl up and sleep, and at night I'm slowly fading.

The only time I'm up any earlier than 8 or 9 o clock in the morning is if I have a morning shift at work, which is not that often these days. And then it takes some serious caffeine to get me going.

Morning's are good, Afternoons are average, Nights are better. I suppose I'm not extremely partial to any time of the day.

I understand. I work nights as well. I have the same bedtime. Good thing my job right now is seasonal or I would have no social life this summer.

I don't sleep in very well. Case in point, I got up at 4:45am this morning (part of that is getting up for work, but I got up before my alarm went off).

Hmm...I PREFER staying up late or all night. Just ask my horrible sleeping habits. I think most clearly at night and in the early, early hours of the morning...like 4 am. It's also great for my time with God. Well that and I have nasty nightmares sometimes, so I don't like sleeping.

However...I'm also a morning person. Even though I don't LIKE getting up early, give me a few minutes and I'm happy and cheerful and ready to start the day. Unless I stayed up all night, then I might be a little less happy-go-lucky. So I guess I can fake my way through both xD

I've always been a morning person, waking up at 7:30 even when I'm on vacation and crashing around 11:00 that night. However, if someone wakes me up even a minute before I'm ready to get up I will promise to scream and moan and say several things unsuitable for small children to hear.

I'm a better morning type than most of the people I know (I get up at 6:45 AM, usually), and I'm pretty awake in the morning, but I seem to get a burst of energy at around 9:30 or so that gets me pumped for the next couple of hours. =)

Gosh, when I was younger I was a total morning person. Now that I'm older and work late at times, it really depends. Somedays I wake up around 11am (during summer only) and sometimes around 8am-ish. Almost everyday I'm up until 1am during the school days and a bit later during summer.

I guess it really depends. Also, I try not to sleep past 10:30am-11am because it makes me feel like I've wasted my day. Kind of odd, but yeah.

Now I switch between being a morning person and not quite a bit.

I can usually very easily stay up until 3am, but getting up the next day is a mess. I think most clearly and I'm most energized around 9pm-2am.

My work schedule's pretty constant, and I start in late morning. By the time noon rolls around I'm awake... and I've been at work for an hour and a half. =p

Afternoon from 2-5 is when I'm the most sluggish.

Piece of advice for all you youngsters (24 and under)... If you're anything like me, sleep tends to be an "option", and your seem to be able to roll out your day with 5 or 6 hours, perhaps less, a night.
This will catch up with you. I used to be in bed at 2 am and up at 7 to get to work most days, with even less sleep on the weekends, mostly from hanging out with people, and playing RPGs and going to shows and such...
Now, here I am at work, it's almost 1:30 in the afternoon, I was late for work because I am so completely burnt from all the "real life" stuff you have to deal with. Those of you out of high school, and working, and going to school know what I'm talking about. Church stuff, work, relationships, friendships, people depending on you, and on top of it all, you'd really like to play that game that's been sitting in plastic for 6 months, or maybe go catch a movie with some friends, or stay up until the wee hours discussing everything from foreign policy to Biblical truth, to the effect of pop tarts on the bovine digestive tract or something...
So you try and squeeze those kinds of "fun" things in amidst the "responsibilities", and you get burnt.
Like I said, it's 1:30 in the afternoon, and I think my mind just woke up for real about an hour ago (with the help of two huge cups of coffee).
Zombie is no fun, for we loathe the undead.
Do yourselves a favor, people. Get your body used to a rational sleep schedule now, before you end up feeling pukey all the time like I do now.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to my half-conscious attempt at working, so I can pay bills tonight, before I run all over town with my gf so she can do errands, fit in some time to eat something, buy tickets for the Blindside show, clean my house, do dishes, do laundry, then fall asleep reading the Word at 3am before I wake up 4 hours later to do it all over again.
And I used to be a morning person....!

Let's see...pretty much all last week I stayed up until 5 AM, and woke up around 1 in the afternoon the next day...well, wait...if it was 5 AM, I guess that would make it the same day...

Well, anyway, as you can see, I function better at night, and can't stand the morning.

I can't stand waking up earily in the morning. That's why I change my schedule for next semester too all afternoon classes. Never again I'm going to take a 8:00 A.M. class. :shady:

Although the afternoon is my favorite part of the day, I would say that I am a morning person.

Even on the weekends I am almost always up by 8:00 or 9:00. Right now I am working, so I have to get up at 4:00 AM every morning. 4:00 is an ungodly hour, whether you're talking about waking up or going to sleep... :eyeroll:

I don't have any trouble going to bed at what most people would consider way too early (I can fall asleep at 9:00 PM). Of course it gets easier later than that, so I don't think that I could say that I am night person. My mind ceases to function around 1:00 AM, and my body gives out around 3:30 AM  .

In other words I am a moring person within reason. I've seen the sunrise before, and I don't care to do it every single day.
