Bombs in London

Talk about anything in here.

[quote="Talame"]Actually, it hasn't happened AT ALL. Watching the news this morning, it seems that aside from those directly affected (casualties + their families), the rest of London is continuing life as normal... and I don't mean just forcing themselves to do so. They aren't even talking about the thing! (so says the news]

Well you can bet that Londoners are talking about it. Who wouldn't? We've been talking about it so it's pretty much a given they're talking about it. You sure you heard someone say that on the news?

Anyway yes I'd really love for that to happen. And yes I know all things are possible through God, but I just can't see it really happening. It'd be a great thing but I'll just suffice for them being imprisoned for life/or dead for now.

Firstly, yes I am absolutely sure I heard it on the news, because I was completely shocked that they would do so! But then again, I am not allowing for differences in culture. Perhaps they are just keeping up a brave face.

Imprisoned for life; perhaps... yes, but dead? If they were to die now, they would be sent to Hell, unless they found Jesus before so. I'm afraid that I can't wish that on anyone. It may seem like an impossible thing, but we should still lift them up before the Lord and ask that they find Him.

I woke up this morning a bit after 8 or so, rolled over, turned on the tv and the first thing i saw were the attacks and thought "the sleep must be fogging my mind, this CAN'T be real". But it was on nearly every news channel. I'll be praying for the victims and especially for a friend of mine and her family over there and who ever is responsible for this mess.

I got up at 530 this morning the first thing I had to check was my Breaking News Network pager which was giving me the message waiting beep.
The first thing to hit me was a pizza delivery person was murdered within a mile of my house and their car stolen. Then I walk into the kitchen and turn on the TV and the bombings were just being talked about followed by the pizza delivery murder and the wreck of three tractor trailers which closed down I 95 North and South and spilled acid on the interstate.
I don't know what to fear. The crime in my area, terrorism attacking the world or dieing from a haz mat spill that could travel with wind and kill hundreds or more.
But I have a job to do and that involves working in public safety in my job and volunteering. I have to be prepared and I believe that everyone else should also to survive any attacks and to come to the aid of those who can't get away from an attack.
It up sets me to think that there are those who believe what they are doing is in the name of God to kill and maim innocence men, women and children.
Bless the lives of those lost and injuried and their families and the those that came to their aid because the sights, sounds, and other senses could affect them for years to come of what they had experience with these attacks.

Ok I gotcha. Well obviously there wasn't panic in the streets everywhere because the police had everything under control very quickly. But you can bet people won't be going out much for a week or two. With succesive attacks a possibility like the ones in Jakarta and Madrid and all.

All I'm saying is I wouldn't really be shedding any tears if it pops up on the news they were killed in a police raid or something. But I doubt that will happen, men like these are cowards and I doubt would put up any kind of fight with heavily armed policeman. They would be captured for sure in a situation like that which is better for everyone. Because then they can interrogate them and help to prevent any further attacks by their accomplices and of course have at least a...chance that they might be saved.

When I heard this, I nearly broke my remote control. I was so angry, and I still am. People can really make me angry, why do they have to act like this. There seems to be nothing anyone can do to stop the horrors that go on in the world, and this fills my heart with a lot of sorrow. I pray hard it will end, I pray hard for the people hurt, I hope it does some good =/

I will be praying for those injured, and the families who have lost loved ones. They are need of our prayers and I invite everyone to pray for them as well.

no, but terrorists try. They succeeded in installing distrust in our government on 9/11, if nothing else.

It is horrible. In the end, they're fighting over a piece of land that's so small, yet so important to them, and all these other countries are falling into the crossfire. So many of these people think that terrorism is the way to win, but it's just making things hotter between sides...

I don't know if terrorism will ever end. It's the result of desperation, fear of failure... We saw it on 9/11... WWII... some might even call the genocide that the Israelites committted as terrorism as they killed off whole civilizations in their conquest of Canaan. Point is, it's been going on forever it seems, y'know? Maybe after this, it will start to slow down. Maybe not. Pray, yes, we must.

The more terrorism goes on the more the terrorists will become a minority since
all they are doing is turning more and more people against them.

I disagree actually. Might be that people IN THE WEST are being turned against them, but I think that people in the Middle East, esp if they have little to lose (eg their family having been killed in any of the numerous wars that have been fought there), would be more than willing to fight against the Western nations., who they may hold responsible for their losses

No,actually if you look at what has been happening in Iraq lately the terrorists are loosing their supporters because more and more they have been targeting fellow
Arabs and Muslims as well as Westerners.
The more these attacks continue the more of a wedge it creates between the
terrorists and the rest of the Muslim World.

The newspaper I read today said London just won the 2012 Olympics. I wonder how those two things will affect each other.

Well I think it's obvious that people in the West are against terrorists not that anyone around here was really for them in the first place...

It's hardly a reason that most of them blame us for family losses in wars fought by us. Remember there's only been three real combat engagements by U.S. and Coalition forces in the Middle East, Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom. Two countries, and most of today's active terrorists with the exception of the insurgency weren't even born there. Mainly the reason why is because of dogmatic institutionalized hatred of the West in the education system, U.S. support of Israel, lack of economic growth, and corrupt theocratic leaders supporting this hatred.

They won the olympics before the attacks occurred. From jubilation to grief.

Yet I would say that it is a reason none-the-less. Yes, there are other reasons; one being the influence of the Soviet Union (before it collapsed) on the Middle East; and another being the apparent lack of morals in the Western countries today... it it little wonder they view us as evil

And a theocracy where institutionalized rape, murder, and genocide is the norm is moral? It's ridiculous to compare our governments to ones like those. Of coruse this doesn't apply to more progressive nations with secular governments like Qatar, Iraq, Kuwait, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia which is getting better. But still to this day in Pakistan, Iran, Syria, etc. the authorities turn a blind eye to it because corrupt mullahs have so much political clout there. The schools in those nations still teach jihadist material to tens of thousands of children every single year. The hate is built into the system and it won't end unless the people take their nations back.

Secular? Saudi Arabia? Iraq, getting better? I don't know where you get your news, man, but not even Fox would go that far. Saudi Arabia is a pretty lousy place to live unless, well, you are a Saud. And S. Arabia as a "secular" country is pretty ridiculous when you consider 1).that the nation hosts Mecca, 2). It is illegal for a woman to travel in public without a male relative and without her face covered 3). and if the word "Wahabism" means anything to you. Get your facts checked, man.

I have nothing to say about the bombings themselves, because I'm sure it is already covered. Truly it is a tragedy, and hopefully those responsible will be swiftly punished.

One of the things I noticed is that they contrasted the IRA bombings from the past
30 years to what happened this past week.At least the IRA had the "decency" of
warning when they were going to attack and never attacked the Underground.
At least that's my understanding.
And,yes I did put decency in qoutes since a terrorist is still a terrorist no matter
where they're from.

In my message I mentioned the pizza delivery person that was murdered.
Well they caught the two people involved and charged them with murder one. They called in the order for a vacant house waited for the delivery. Shot the man, took pizzas, money and the man's car and then burned it up the road in a park. Usually people who do this are never caught but it took the police two days to find them.
The poor man who was shot was from China and had family here and there and was sending money to bring the rest of his family here. He was working for Domino's Pizza.
Its something that the terrorist who did the bombing in London may get away before the law get to them and it couldl take days, months or years to get them.

blasts. The one who died in the bus bombing got decapitated in the process. The
good news was they found an address in Leeds,Yorkshire on his body which
provided a lead.

I just found out that a friend of mine knew the two americans from tennisee who were injured in the bombing. not only that but she was going to go over with them but had to delay her trip. So she could have been there.

It really makes these things hit more close to home, knowing someone personally.
