Happy United States Day!

Postby TheMelodyMaker » Sun Jul 03, 2005 9:35 pm

...or whatever you call it down there. (I've heard rumors that it's called "Independence Day", but they have yet to be proven. ;) )

Seriously, I hope all you American folk have a good one tomorrow -- or today, whenever you read this. :) Have you any special plans to celebrate? ^_^

Woot!! Er...yes, Independence Day is correct. But most people just call it the 4th of July, at least around here...

Anyway, my family celebrated today because it would have been less convenient on Monday. This morning our church had a special patriotic service. It was so cool!!! My mom sang a solo in the choir(the women's uniforms looked like sailor suits, complete with school-girl-like bows and plaited skirts), my brother sang a song, and we had 5 dudes with bagpipes come to play!!! This afternoon, we saw the matinee showing of "War of the Worlds", which was fantastic. We just finished our fireworks show that my brother and 2 male cousins put on every year, which includes patriotic songs on a stereo and gi-normous fireworks, which sometimes head for the audience. We also have a tradition of blowing up random plastic objects. Then, once that is all over, we listen/dance to fun songs like "Dueling Bagpipes", random anime songs like "Tank!" from Cowboy Bebop, and stupid Disney movie songs (i.e. "A Whole New World" from Aladdin). My oldest cousin and I "flew" around the front yard with blanket capes tied around our necks this year while listening to the theme of Superman. That is, until my brother and other guy cousin tackled us and stole them. Yes, very fun. My family's full of freaks. :eh:

Happy Independence Day! I am your father. Yes, that was completely random and inappropriate.

Yeah...My family is going over to my sister's friend's house out in the country and we're going to barbecue, fish, and shoot off some fireworks. The food should be good, I've been dying for some barbecue for weeks.

I find it incredibly amusing (and somewhat sad) that a Canadian made a 4th of July post before any Americans did (even if he did incorrectly label it XD)

As for myself, we had a pretty special service in church this morning, including many patriotic themes and flags wafting about. Tomorrow we're having a huge tail-gating, fire-works watching concert in my church's parking lot. I shall be handing otu free water with references to the living water. And it shall be awesome.

I have good reason for that. ^_^ Although I've lived in Canada (in the same town) all my life, my dad is from Boston -- so that makes me half-American. :)

Actually, I won't be joining Rachel and the rest of my family, as a friend of mine invited me over before I knew of the others.

Happy 4th everyone.

Happy Independence Day :D *hugs everyone who is unable to be with family or has to work and hands them fireworks* Enjoy >8D

I'm going to the beach for a day full of surf, sand, sunburns and incredible friends just as crazy as me. Then we're all getting together for an awesome garlic shrimp dinner, followed by insane crazy games, then FIREWORKS, since fireworks are now legal in GA <_< at least...some of them.

*blink* I don't know anything about illegal fireworks

<_<'

n_~ God bless America! Be safe today, everyone!!
