Back From The Beach

Well my trip to Ocean City, Md started out kind of rough. While packing Friday I bent over to look at something and my back spasmed and drove me to my knees. I went to my doctor and he prescribed two medications which I would have to take 3 times a day and prevented me from driving so I have only taken them before bed and have done well with my back so far.
I left Saturday and got to Ocean City in two and a half hours. Just as I came around to the main drag of town I seen a pedestrian at the crosswalk and stop and got rear ended by another firefighter from another department. My bumper is a little bent and might need replacing when I sell my pickup.
The place I pickup my rental keys from changed so I had to drive farther down the the highway to get them.
The place I rented had a few problems like stained rugs and a leaking toilet.
The siminars I would have wanted to attend were the same time as others I wanted to attend and one that was important to take I missed because of nominations of officers.
The memorial service ran over for some because of all the dedications to twelve officers of the fire and rescue asson. , so people left before they got to see the dedications to the members of their departments.
One presentation would have brought tears to anyones eyes if they had heard from the parents of firefighters who died has a result of a fire or accident.
One of them was a minister who's son was seriously burned on a Sunday morning before the minister was to conduct church. After hearing his story it was hard to believe the way the fire dept his son worked for and the hospital he was taken to mistreated this minister before the minister had his son moved to another hospital. The fire dept there provided everything they could to the minister and his family and were there when his son died on Christmas Day. They even came to the funeral.
One died at a accident along with a police officer.
The other was a 18 year old firefighter in our county who died in a house fire after he made a rescue and went back inside and was trapped and no one knew where he was. He was the son of the fire chief of the department he was a member of. I attend the funeral in 13 degree weather in Jan.
A member of our department run for second vice pres but lost because there were three people running for the position.
The parade had a little bit of rain fall near the end which has not happen in years since I have been going.
The one thing about Ocean City is that places you remember are not there anymore. Torn down and new places there or going up.
A new bridge or tunnel will be built in the future into Ocean City on US 50 so I guess more buildings will disappear and new go up in its place.
AS to going home there were not any problems getting back so I guess I was lucky there.
