I once worked at the University's cafeteria (one of many). That lasted about three months. I'm in the middle of a job search.

When I was in Bible School I was one of the campus mailmen. We all hated when
the cataloges came out because they were humungous. Also Mondays because that
was when all of the weekend mail also came so it was usually a three to five bag
day.Fridays was ok because that met that you only had about either one bag
full or else could carry it all in one hand.
Later in College I worked in the kitchen washing dishes. If you want to know where
all the really crazy people end up in College...they're the ones in the dish room!
Also one summer during Bible School I picked strawberries, not as fun as it sounds.
You're on your hands and knees for hours trying to pick every single bush clean, and then when you got done with a row you had to call out and have them
make sure you hadn't missed one.

My last job was working in the kitchen of a nursing home facility. Now I'm looking forward to going through orientation for a direct care staff position in a home for people with disabilities who are completely dependent upon the caregivers. If the Lord allows it, I'll also be getting an on-call position for a day program for adults with disabilities.

I'm a professional gamer. Doesn't pay anything, but that doesn't matter. I love my job. They just gave me more hours for beating Final Fantasy 8, and I'll get a bonus if I can rack up 2000 kills in Halo 2 online in the month of June. Currently, I have 1850 kills against 1760 deaths. They even give me overtime!

Cool!! What exactly do you do? Other than the frantically running in circles, I'm s'posed to be a bakery clerk. Meaning I package things, slice bread, stock shelves, write happy birthday on cakes, take orders, attempt to help crazy old customers, and a buncha other stuff. Ei, I'm on tomorrow morning and I'm already feeling tired just thinking about it. I'm also at a big grocery store, though I think it'd be cooler to work at a smaller 'real' bakery.

I just quit my job of nearly 3 years last week. It wasn't for anything bad; I just really, really needed a break for the summer before I move and kill myself in seminary. XD

Anyway, I was a waitress. Except, at my work you were hostess, waitress, and busboy in a cutthroat mom and pop place with no sections, no limits, and pretty much no rules as for how you treated other waitresses. Plus, I wasn't really hired by the company--I was an independent contractor (tax thing). So basically, waitress for higher. Yeehaw.

When I move, I hope I get a job either on campus or with Waldenbooks. Employee discount! *O*

Currently in retail. Ultimate goal is to be a Christian game designer. Until then.... I have to have something to hold me over. I would like to get out of retail though... I'm thinking seriously of working at a restaurant. There's a new Chinese restuarant being built right next to where I work.... I also want to try at a local Japanese restuarant sometime in the near future.

Jobs, ahh I wish I wasn't in the real world at times.... Well at least it helps me pay for the things I really need.

My first job was at a grocery store. I worked there for about 2 and half years. I started as a bagger/carry-out/maintenance, then I became a cashier after 1yr and a half. Then after doing that for a bit, I transfered to the grocery department unloading trucks, stocking shelves and ect...

Then I got a new job at Bestbuy. I started off as a cashier then transfered to inventory. Again, I would unload the truck, then stock the shelves with merchandise.

Then because they didn't provide me with enough hours to pay my bills, I had to find yet another job. I ended up in another grocery store (HEB)- go figure. My title is cashier, but I also work gas station occasionally too.

Out of all my jobs the most, I enjoyed bestbuy the most. It was flat out funnier and the atmosphere is a total 180. Also the customers act different too. For instance people hate grocery store because they "have" to get food to live, where the customers at bestbuy shop there because they "want" something they don't necessarily need. It's all about personal pleasure.

But what I've learned is that I perfer doing work that keeps me busy, or active. Standing behind a check stand gets really old, really fast. I guess I'm just so used to things that involve physical labor... How often do you hear people say that? :)

working kind of stinks. That's why I really want to get a career doing something I love, rather then something I dread just for money

That's too funny, it's awesome to meet someone with the same job! Although I'm at Safeways, which might be different in some tiny ways. I didn't even know about bakery clerks until I was hired as one a month ago. Is the job totally crazy for you too? We're always rushing like mad to get everything finished. And yup, ya gotta love the crazy old ladies in search of random difficult to locate baked goods

I hated working with the public. People... eh.
People talking without speaking
People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

If only life were more like an RPG... run out, kill a few dozen monsters, take the GP they drop, and not even bother to think about what monsters were doing carrying around bags of gold for no reason in the first place.
