The Left-Out People's Club

Postby Alice » Fri Jun 24, 2005 6:58 pm

So it seems like I've been reading a lot of posts from people who feel left out on CAA. And I know I felt that way at first, too.

So I thought, "Let's start a thread for all the people who feel left out on CAA!"

Acknowledging the feeling is the first step to changing it. And maybe people who feel left out could find out they share some interests with other people after all, and thus, friendships will form.

Love and peace will sprout from the earth! We will all grow rabbit ears!

Erm, maybe that's not a good idea. If it's not, just don't post here. Then, I will begin to feel left out myself, and the thread will still complete its purpose.

Until I go off to spam in the Bishies thread.

People hearing without listening
People writing songs that voices never share

And no one dared
Disturb the sound of silence.

Up until the last month or so I used to feel left out, but I'm not sure if I do anymore. I mean, I'm not exactly popular, but a fair number of people are starting to look familiar, and a few are even looking like friends (yay!), which is nice. I'm also the uber-quiet-sit-in-the-corner-and-listen-type in real life, whereas on here I'm a loudmouth by comparison. So it's rather difficult to feel totally ignored when your acting totally outta character and yabbering

I personally think that I need to start PMing more random people, 'specially quieter members.

Aw, I think anyone who feels left out on this site needs to come to the chat! XD Seriously, a few days after I registered here, I went to the chat and felt right at home. XD And if you can't go to the chat, just post a lot...Post fanfics if you've written them, fanarts if you've drawn them, start new threads, reply to other posts, etc...You'll fit in soon enough! ^_^

Different timezones do cause problems too. I don't feel left out. There aren't all that many people on when I'm on (Australian time differences) but I contribute to threads a lot even though there often aren't people on the other end. Goofing off in Goof Off does help you to fit in to.

Dude you know I respected you. You've always made really intelligent posts. And you were alright backing me up in Halo when you actually played that is.:P You should try and play again man and see what happens.

And there have been times when I've felt left out. But most of the time it's usually my fault. Last summer I was always doing our AIM chats but then into the Fall and early Spring all I did was post in the usual forums. Now I've been in the chat more.

I hear ya. I'm the same way. I'm pretty quiet in real life, to the point I scare people who don't know me. As for the forum, I used to feel a little left out, but not anymore. I may not know all that many people, but I have a good time talking with them anyway.

Left out? I feel left out. I don't know if I fit in here at the CAA or not??? ... "Does anyone here like me?" ... Just curious.

... I am a very likeable guy after all

I have been pretty much just hanging out in the Prayer Room responding to people's prayer request. Replying with wisdom found from the Bible and my own thoughts on the matter. I have been trying to give encouragement and a little guidance while respecting the person I am trying to help. I don't know if I am doing good work or not??? I'm always trying to do the will of God and help others. :thumb:

Don't feel left out, y'all! We all love you and like your being on the boards!!
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Well then you're doing God's will, and that's what's most important after all, right? ^___^ I will pray for you in turn.

I'll admit I've felt out of place here at times, though not necessarily left out. I'm not sure if it has to do with my being older than most of the members here or not.

Yes, doing God's will is the most important thing, even when sometimes it might make us unpopular.

Hey and I understand the older thing as well. But instead of being physically older I feel spiritually older then most. Just because I am a more mature Christian then some. I have been a Christian since I was 3 but it was at 13 that really I devoted my life to studying the word, way, and will of God. I have matured in my faith much and I know that I am spiritually more mature then most I have spoken with here at the CAA. Now I use my spiritually maturity to help those who are not as mature to grow. I know quite a few things that can help. ( That is why I like to help teenagers. I’ve been there and I know a few things.) But it would be nice to find a spiritually mature comrade whom is on the same level as me.

Hey! Don't leave me out of the left out thread! I sometimes feel that way, but hey, it's normal with someone as odd as me! I can be mature, but that's mostly in real life, so people usually back away. It don't matter.

It makes me feel terrible that people feel left out here, and if anyone feels like the staff might be able to do something about it, chime right in. I'm convinced that we have something special here, but getting to know everyone does take a little effort and post time. I don't feel left out, but rather disconnected sometimes. I read threads and feel like I have nothing constructive to say, so I go work on Darklight or on the anime reviews. I used to know *everyone* on the boards really well and then there just got to be too many people to keep up with. Going away for a couple months didn't help anything either. I still haven't got back into my CAA posting groove.

I think Otaku10 had the right idea as far as hanging out in Goof Off to mix and mingle, but I do suggest trying to post on the regular boards and contributing to coversations too.

I'd also like to suggest the old "if you want friends, you must be one first" method. If you're just going around looking for people to like you, scanning posts for your name, or always just posting your opinion or story, it might take a while to make friends on the board. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be noticed or wanting to make buddies, but you have to give and as well as take, you know? Taking a genuine interest in what someone else is saying will take you far (as will actually reading other people's posts). ^^ If you want to be noticed, take time to notice someone else.

Other than that, just stick with it. Regardless of how it feels sometimes, every member is wanted here. It sounds so corny, but it's the God-honest truth. ^^;

So if anyone feels left out, let Osaka know and she'll break your fingers - then being left out won't hurt so bad ... or something.

Osaka: I heard that!!

Gypsy: What are you doing in my house!?

Osaka: Um. . . you didn't see me here. . .

No, really, if anyone wants a friend, I'd be happy to swap PMs with them. CAA people are always cool and I love getting to know more people!!

Gypsy is right. The best way to be a friend is to be a friend. Not that this works all the time, but does work most of the time. You just have got to make sure that you don't isolate yourself from the rest of the world. If you isolate yourself, then how are you going to make any friends? So reach out and try to talk with people. Join other peoples threads. I know I feel left out at times, but it is mainly my fault. I don't try and be as friendly as I should, and I isolate myself from others. Then I wonder why I don't have any friends? Hmm...see a porblem with that? So do what I should do and be friendly. And while you may get hurt in the process, because their are some bad people out there, there are still plenty of good people as well. And you never know when your reaching out may touch someone in need. There are many people who also just need a friend. And you never know about that reaching out...you may just reach some one for Christ that way. After all Jesus "will make you fishers of men." (Matthew 4:19)

Comparing your posts/day, yours is double mine. Then again, it doesn't count Goof-Off posts.

Seriously, will the server explode if it suddenly tallied Goof Off/RPG threads? I'm sure Animeheretic's postcount will increase tenfold.
